I'm looking at replacing the airbox paper filter with a Unifilter - not the pod type, just the rectangular ones that are straight replacements for the paper type.

Has anyone had a problem with the oil on the filter getting onto the Air Flow Meter and creating problems?

Most people on the forum appear to be using some form of oil based air filters - K&N, unifilter, blitz, etc...

Feedback would greatly be appreciated.

Hi Silver33, this problem is way overated, simple rules apply. Don't over oil the filter and use spray on brake cleaner to clean the afm internals when you do the engine oil change.

Hope that helps

Sydneykid,

To clean the internals of the AFM, do you actually mean taking the airbox out, physically removing the AFM from the car, taking off the mesh and spraying brake cleaner onto the internals, then re-assembling everything?

I've never dis-assembled the AFM before so I'm not sure how sensitive the AFM is, ie is it safe to be spraying things into the AFM and will it require re-calibration?

silver33, this is a very easy thing to do. Just loosen off the clamps front and back, spray the cleaner at the sensor, and replace the afm.

It has mesh on the front and back, which doesnt need to be removed, but alot of people do remove the mesh to improve flow - not too sure it does much thought(removing the mesh).

If you are still a bit hesitant, someone has posted a thread with detail instructions and photos. Either on performance or maintenance forum.

    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
