Hey guys,

Well it comes the time, when we had to trim my clutch fan to make room for the cooler piping, and now ive noticed the temp go up slighty not too much tough. Ive decided to put twin thermos from a AU in, and would like peoples susgestions, ive looked on the forums and overall people are happy with thermo fans, but i would like to know what the best would be for a r34 rb25det neo6 engine. Has anyone done it and has it fit? what are the downsides.

BTW when the air con is on the temp jumps threw the roof i need this fixed guys!!! please help me out.

Cheers guys! any one who has done it to a r34 i would really like to hear from you ;)

i honestly think your wasting your time with twin thermo fan setup ...

my first suggestion would be to get your original radiator modified to twin core for $350 or less and then if that aint enough i would get a low temp thermostat and you shouldnt have any troubles even on track days....

cheers

i do lots of rb conversions into silvias and i use 2 12in davis craig fans on a r32 gtst radiator and i have never had any overheating problems

i have then hooked up on a custom thermo fan relays with a custom thermo switch (which btw plugs straight in to the r32 overtemp thermo switch ) the thermos are switched on at 85.c

A low temp thermostat should fix your prob at the moment, i went two 12" davis craig fans on my 180 with a temp switch and for all the effort and money i should have just kept the clutch fan with a low temp thermostat.

how much lower of a thermostat did u go as the factory ones open up at 76.c

i would like to know about this also. after installing my fmic on a bit of an angle and moving my horns up to the only place catching cold air for the radiator the car sometimes heats up a bit when its hot.

my clutch fan still seems ok and ive replaced the thermostat with a standard one.

which thermostat is lower in temp and suits the r32? i used the one listed for the rb30 r31 skyline one.

Before we all go suggesting to this person a low temp thermostat... I think someone should outline the negatives of getting one installed as well.

I have one from ARC; yet to put it in because I've heard it has negative aspects which is not ideal for street applications.

well give the negatives and im sure ill answer any questions that i can...

Can't remember all of them but one of them was longer warm up times???

well thats actually wrong because it doesnt open up untill it get's to that temp so when it get to 65 or 70 depends which thermostat u get then it will open up fully ...eg: your stuck at lights your temp goes up and then your thermo opens up to cool the engine..warm up is not an issue as the car just sits there and warms up pretty fast .. but i suggest u do your radiator first and then go from there..

cheers

Hi, I work for a radiator shop in New Zealand, We do cleanouts/alloy race rads/oil coolers etc.. (I manufacture race rads/intercoolers)

I would recommend getting your radiator rodded out (cleaned out) and a new top tank put on. I can't say if this will fix your temp problem, but go to the most obvious problem first, maybe your radiator is actually blocked..

I've pulled apart 2000 model cars and they have been as blocked as they can be..

Just a thought.

i agree you....yay some progress

radiator first!

I don't think a low temp thermostat will help much. It might delay the overheating slightly but it's inevitible. Your radiator and fans as they are can only do so much cooling.

I would replace the radiator if I was you but if you want to go thermo then go for one 16" rather than two 12". It pulls a lot more air. Supercrap have them for about $90 at the moment. Dunno how good they are though.

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
