Nismo Exhaust Sensor?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what item i have found, under the passenger side carpet of my series 1 r33 gtst i found a little white box with nismo written on it it has a small button that says on/off and a tiny gain screw, one end has a stainless braided line plugged into it that goes to the exhaust and the other end has an electical harness that goes to a plug thats not plugged into anything. Any ideas?

Exhaust gas temperature sensor (the expensive bit) and someone has removed the gauge (the cheap bit).

where would i find a gauge and what is the info used for?
