Muffa180
Hi peoples i recently bought an R32 GTR and was told it had an R33 GTR eng in it. The eng number has been changed but how do i tell if it is an R33 RB 26. From what i understand the R33 is stronger than the R32 RB26 and the standard 33 eng can handle more boost. Thanx Michael... ferni
Isn't the oil pump/crank differen between the 2? No idea what the actual differences are just know they are different Some of the late 32's are the same as the 33 tho... Adriano
The only advantage of a 33 motor is age, and the better crank that reduces the load on the oil pump Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/170684-how-do-i-tell-a-r33-gtr-eng-or-r32-gtr-eng-apart/#findComment-3154120 Share on other sites

Late 32's have the same crank as 33's , but I think he wants to know 'how he can tell the difference' and you cant see the crank unless you pull the oil pump off. There are other small differences ( external ) but you can't rely on them because they can be changed . The only sure way to tell is the number. Jazza12
The quickest way to tell is by the harmonic balancer. The R32's have a thicker beefier looking balancer than the R33's.
