One more thing.... which is better... 6000k, 8000k, 10000k or 12000k? i saw an Audi and its purplish in color which one is that? thanks in advance Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/172568-hid-kits-for-r34/ Share on other sites

BATMBL
as DECIM8 mentioned, R34 GTT headlights are made for Xenon. Beside this though, HID kits run on 35W instead of 55W or more, so you wont have any issues with heat, as they are not as hot as filament bulbs. If you can get your hands on the stock Xenons, this would be the best bet, as the R34 headlight optics are designed for the D2R Xenon bulbs not the H1 filament bulbs that they put in with compliance. If its too much trouble to get the factory xenons put back, then you would want to stay away from colours higher than 6000K, as the higher you go the less bright it is and it gets too blue/purple and you will be a magnet for cops. The 6000K colour seems to be the most prefered for people as its a white light with a tinge of blue. If you go lower in K, like 4100K-4500K, this is what the R34 originally has, and even the BMW, Audi, S2000 etc, and the light is pure white with no blue. The reason you see blue/purple at certain times on the Audi or BMW cars with factory Xenons is because of the projector lens. The light isnt purple/blue, but white (around 4100K-4300K). It only looks blue/purple on the edges of the projection of light, and so thats why when its far away and the edge of the beam passes your line of sight, it looks purple/blue, but when the car comes up close the light is white. You wont be able to get this effect with the R34 as it doesnt use projector lights, it uses reflectors. Also, not all projector lens give out that blue/purple look at the edge of the light projection. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/172568-hid-kits-for-r34/#findComment-3176166 Share on other sites
adam-__-
If you plan on getting an HID kit, don't get anything higher than 6000k. In my opinion, don't get 6000k either. I've got them and they're way too blue. If I were to buy a kit again, I would definately get 4300k. Most people get 6000k, but I think it's too blue. What BATMBL said about the blue-ish light from the Audi's is correct. It all from the projectors. Mr Eps
MvR3408 - Hey man, HID is a complete conversion kit for your lights... just a quick explanation your exsisting halogen lights have a tungsten(?) fillament which converts electricity to high heat, causing the fillament to glow and emit light which is reflected off from your headlights onto the road, much like a household globe. HID lighting is a completely different form of lighting, there is no fillament whatsoever, just the glass and highly compressed gas, much like a fluro light only a lot more compressed. this is why when you flick on HID's they take a few seconds to light up, because the gas molecules need a few seconds to vibrate and emit light... in lames terms, your HID lights use little to no heat, because there is no heat being used... only gas! ...I think that's how HID's work anyway... seems to be like that on my cefiro! I have 6000K and i have projectors and i get full sunshine light spectrum... I love it, if you go HID you will NEVER EVER look back, it's so amazing coming from a cefiro where the lights are so dull to being able to see the reflectors of signs light up at about a kilometre away... I got mine fitted and supplied by J-shop in Perth, $220 for the kit $80 for fitment and aiming of lights, the $80 included a one year warranty on them you can buy a set off them for $220... www.jshop.com.au Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/172568-hid-kits-for-r34/#findComment-3176268 Share on other sites
