yes, very sad day. nos man here got defected within a few hours of owning his skyline. thankfully i only got reemed for the tyres on my 34.

just need to know a few things for the people that's been to regency before; (asking for nosman)

body kits, can they get through?

front mount intercooler, whats the real go on these?

intake piping with aftermarket BOV adapter welded shut?

cold air intake? just a pipe that goes from the front of the front bar to the pod filter

inner guards? do you need them?

thanks for advance,

dave

1. If the lowest point to the ground is above 100m, and its secured well, yes.

2. As long as the job is neat they tend to turn a blind eye. All secure parts etc.

3. No aftermarket BOV. All std emission gear must be fitted, aftermarket one can be welded so its fine.

4. CAI - hmm...havent heard of anyone being done for this, but pod must be secured to inner guard. Might be best to remove cai just for the inspection. Pod is fine.

5. Yes. big yes.

Basically have as much std gear on it as possible (except the ic) and u should be fine.

well we were out cleaning our cars at BP regency park and then a cop came along when we were drying it off. he did a registration check and then it all started from there.

i just went pass there again today and they seem to have a marked cop car just there parking waiting to defect anyone that comes in.

thanks bl4ck32, i have a few more questions on behalf of nosman

1. what would be the best solution to make the exhaust more quiet without having to put a standard exhaust on? the exhaust is a turbo back, 3" all the way through with no cat. as it already needs a cat, would the piping need to be changed? as in smaller piping?

2. the car has GTR front guards, so the inner guards from the original gtst were ripped off. would you need GTR inner guards to fill it or would a gtst one fit?

3. the previous owner cut a hole for one side of the intercooler piping to go through on the left hand side under the washing bottle. that would need to be patched up wouldn't it?

4. eye lids and dirty head lights, i'm guessing the eye lids must be removed, but what about a foggy head light? would that pass?

5. number plates are located on the side at the front, would you pass with this? if not; relocating the number plates to the middle will leave holes in the bumper. do these holes need to be patched up?

thats about all i can think of for now. sorry for the stupid/silly questions, just want to get it right as much as possible before heading to regency, although we might have to visit them a second time.

thanks in advance!

cheers,

dave

1. U can get 3" cats, so when he gets it fitted u will have a 3" flange after the cat. You can get a std system to bolt on after the cat for the inspection (exhaust technology rent them out i think), or have the muffler at the rear cut (same time the cat is fitted) and a flange welded on to slap a std muffler on for the test then just refit his muffler.

2. The gtst inner guards will fit, just need to weld a bit of steel to close the gap to the outer guards.

3. As long as holes are neat, they tend to disregard (so ive heard very recently) so make sure it looks nice, and its painted.

4. They check globes are working but shouldnt care about headlights being dirty unless they are really bad.

5. nope. std centre location required. Holes should be fine.

Even if he has all of these fixed, be prepared for other items to be looked at. All bushes, brakes, suspension, seats being loose, wheel bearings etc. They generally try make u come back fer a 2nd time, so dont stress too much the first time through.

go to marky at ET and get him to stuff steel wool in the exhaust, then so to regency and get your list cause if you go back within 6 months they cant get you for anything else.

EASIEST way and you might get away with a few things

yea I saw that too so I steered away from that joint and made my way down to the ottoway BP. Not suprisingly a marked cop car was there...

Sorry to hi-jack your thread mate, but does anyone know if oil catch cans are legal (not venting)

I got through with a side mounted plate. the official law is 20cm off the ground and clearly visable. you can take you car through regency un rego'd, so i spose you dont technically need plates.

but cops are c**ts and dont know what they are doing, so they told me it was illegal when i got defected.

Evo 9's, some alpha romeos, torago's and a few other cars come out std with side mounted plates, all on the drivers side though, dunno if that means anything.

good luck with it mate

cheers guys! well i just replaced the exhaust, just put on a standard cat and changed it to 2.5 inch piping from the cat to muffler! now my car is at a workshop getting some shit removed and replaced! now the only thing that i need are inner guards, would anyone know where i can get some? i've gone to a lot of places but they don't have any so i'm kinda stuck right now!

thanks........

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
