hey guys how are we all,

last week i blown the stock rb20 turbo in my R32 down heathcote raceway

luckily enough i was able to drive the car home 2 hours away

finally got round to replacing it with another stock turbo myself today

took the car for a test drive and seems normal at first

when I accelerate above 3000rpm it pings

slowed the car down and the car begins to hesitate and shake

idles below normal and feels as if it about to shut off.. only for about 10 seconds

then its normal again...

what may the problem be, a cylinder, coilpacks, spark plugs?

this would be greatly appreciated as I did like try fix it myself before taking it to the mechanics

i know i should do a compression test, but I will see what happens cheers

thank you, david

Hi

Sounds like a boost leak. Check all your intercooler piping, most likely something has popped off, or you havent tightend it up properly again.

Overfuels as you come onto boost @ 3000rpm as there is no boost coming through into the intake plenum/engine, when the AFM is reading boost, therefor overfueling and surging etc.. I think! :P

Has happened to me in 1 of my car's, and was the same story in my cousin's R33 not long ago.

Give that a shot and see how you go, couldnt be anything major.

Hope that helps some how.

Thanks,

Abu

    • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
    • What Duncan said sounds right. Also, it looks like they only have the driver's mat. Not the rest. Because looking at the diagram: KG4911 is just the mat for the driver. KG4900 is the full set if I'm not mistaken and discontinued.   But, it looks like they may still have the full set for the manual S2. Might be worth checking for the other models as well as they seem slightly different. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/misc/G49 Man, I'm tempted.
    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
