Stormchaser
I have just replaced one of the rubber hoses (the smaller diameter one) on the power steering resevior. I didn't get a chance to start the car as I had to get a new battery. So when I installed the battery and started the car I noticed that the PS pump was cavitating (making weird noise) so I thought well its gotta be low in fluid so I topped it up and noticed that there was a huge gap of air in the middle of the reseviour. When I start the car it just turns whatever fluid is in the resevior to foam and the pump keeps whining. Im just gonna give flushing it out a go and see what happens. Any ideas what this might be? Craved
thats a strange issues since the small hose is the return from the rack. have you tried to bleed it by turning lock to lock 6- 7 times each way ? Godzilla32
Yeah make sure itf full when its running and bleed the system lock to lock then turn it off and let it sit for a couple of minutes then restart it. This is often a good way to remove aeration. The only other thing it could be is if its drawing air in the new hose you fitted. Check all hose clamps on the entire P/S system for leaks and tension.
