shredder667
hey, just thought i'd share. got the power fc installed and dyno tuned today by ed at autotech (him and peter are deadset champs btw!). car is COMPLETELY stock aside from a no name aftermarket cat back exhaust. was making around 160kw and now busts out 212kw! not too shabby for my first mod i have to say! drives like a bitch too, i'm pumped! Bluprint
That's a fairly big hike, the AFR's are dead on perfect though I reckon Do you know if Pete yanked out the boost restrictor? Being completely stock it would have still been in there Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3278638 Share on other sites
leech_
Awesome result Nick must be stocked. But here is my little bit of input... not trying to be a tight arse but there is no way in hell you could make 212rwkw off just a PFC and a cat back exhaust. Either his dyno is reading even higher than normal or you have some more mods (i am sure it's the first ). Shauno's made slightly more than that and he had a heap more mods. The stock power output seems about right but 50kw from a tune with a stock turbo, stock cat, stock dump pipe, stock air filter (although this is not such an issue). What boost is it running ??? and he could have leaned it out even more thats about an 11.4 - 11.6 through out i think he did mine at 11.8 - 12.0 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3279046 Share on other sites
shredder667
as far as i know the boost restrictor was already out. i felt the boost line off the solenoid and couldn't really feel anything inside it so... 212 does seem like a lot to me off a stocker, but if the original output is about right is there any reason to suspect the new output is off? boost i would imagine is sitting just under a bar. i don't have a boost controller yet and there's no reason for it to be running any higher than stock (minus the restrictor) boost. i dunno, hopefully its right, but if it is an exaggerated figure i don't really care that much cuz the car definitely feels much more responsive, smoother and much more powerful! Bullet32
That power curve is smooth as a baby's butt... Very nice. Im with Leigh on this one... There's no way that a stock RB25 can put 212kw to the wheels with only a Power FC exhaust and cooler... There must be something else that you dont know about that was done to it in Japan by a previous owner. My RB25 put down 230kw at the wheels on the same dyno and Ive got a Power FC, 3" exhaust, Front mount cooler, Splitfire ignition coils, 550cc injectors + 040 Fuel pump and a GT30 turbo (only running 12psi at the moment). You might have a high flowed turbo that you dont know about, because peak boost looks like its coming on a bit late judging by that readout and 1 bar is allot for the standard turbo, they usually let go at about that sort of pressure. High flow turbo's usually dont look any different to stock from the outside. Anyway, nice result and a very nice power curve, lots of mid range torque, it must feel really responsive to drive. Bluprint
Hold on, wait up. Isn't it an R32 GT-R? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3279504 Share on other sites
Bullet32
Hold on, wait up.Isn't it an R32 GT-R? Oh, well that makes sense then... I thought that it was a Gtst seeing as Pete's dyno is only 2wd. I retract my former statement. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3279531 Share on other sites
leech_
fark me i appologise i thought it was an R33 GTS-T same as Mick. I figure if it's on Autotech then it has to be RWD or FWD damn r32's and there fuses hehe My appologies nick as the r32 gtrs should be able to put that sort of power out. Still 50KW is an awesome improvement for just a pfc... i feel like a n00b for jumping on the defence Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3279972 Share on other sites
Bluprint
I was just going by what his little profile thingo says - "Car(s) ef falcon, r32gtr" Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3280004 Share on other sites
shredder667
well it definitely wasn't the falcon! thats cool guys, appreciate the input nonetheless. question, with the boost restrictor out there isn't any chance that the turbos will go about 1 bar is there? as far as i'm aware they hold at about 14 but i don't have a boost controller so i can't say for sure. in the mean time i'm holding off giving them complete death for fear of shattering one. I dont know if you'll get big boost spikes from the standard turbo's they're pretty reliable... But if you want to know exactly what psi youre getting under load Pete should be able to tell you. He'll put an inline sensor in one of your boost hoses on the plenum side that reads the pressure level while the car is on the dyno and gives a very accurate reading of your boost level. *** Dont trust your boost guage *** Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3280179 Share on other sites
Bluprint
From memory (and my memory sucks ) GT-R's run something like 9psi standard with the restrictor in place and about 13 or 14psi with the restrictor removed. Anyone know what it is? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3280451 Share on other sites
Scooby
9.5 ish stock, 15 without the restrictor. don't know if Pete's dyno is optimistic or not, but 212 rwkw from a GTR with those mods seems fine to me. a VDO boost gauge (good enough for the Gamballa Avalanche, good enough for me) costs bugger all and no more guessing. got mine from Premier Instruments in Dickson. widebody32
Good result, Is pretty much normal for something like that, I think my first gtr with the same mods and cam gears made about 230kw so is pretty reasonable. I do agree with leech though, the afrs are a little rich still and should be at 12.0 to 1 to get the best result. 12.4 12.5 will get you your best power but leaves it a bit on the edge for street driving. Ed does like to leave them on the safe side though. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3281060 Share on other sites
datto260Z
Call him Ed gasket if you see him, he was tuning my friends turbo spinter when there was a malfunction and the head gasket blew, wasnt his fault at all, but thats his new nick name Poor fella Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3281239 Share on other sites
r33skylinegtst
That's a pretty darn good result, i had my car tuned there by Ed as well, really happy with the way it drives now, totally new car. Someone told me Ed left Integra and he's at Autotech now?? That true? I haven't had my car serviced since that little NSW licence suspension.... jap32r
nice power bud, just curious what did you get it tuned for power or reliability? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3285935 Share on other sites
shredder667
basically just wanted a solid safe tune. didn't have much of a hand in it as i was at work while it was going on, and as people have said, could've still leaned out the afr's a bit and will most likely go back for that at some stage but yeah - the car's definitely not maxed out or anything. GeeTR
Same dyno, with 10psi, cat back and pods gave me 214KW, with 12:1 AFR's 1bar with stock turbos is dicey. Look around this forum, stockers have popped on stock boost. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/180188-woohoo/#findComment-3286267 Share on other sites
