hi there guys

i just burnt out a s15 splitfire coil which was installed on my 4age 20v

this coil was on cylinder 3

i am running a motec with ignition expander using sequential fire

it seems tho that all coils hav a heat 'bubble' where the last coil burnt, but it seems to b worse on 2 and 3 compared to 1 and 4

any ideas as to why this has happened?

or if you need more info to possibly diagnose the problem let me know

thanks for any help anyone provides!!

cheers!

hey mate

thanks for the quick reply

yea... the dwell timing is set to 1.8 ms as per settings from the motec site

so your saying a lower settin on the dwell can cause the coil to fry?

also only one fried not all, if that helps

thanks mate!

2.3ms is the lowest I have ever used and up to 3.2ms.

Have you had a look to see what the splitfires are rated at? I really am not an expret when it comes to coils but 1.8 sounds too low.

have you had a chat to your tuner yet?

yea... i'll have a look at the box as i cant find any info on them on the splitfire site on the net

tuner was goin off the motec site:

http://www.motec.com.au/drawings/m42.pdf

i think that is the particular page

yea im just getting different opinions atm as to what the problem is

like talkin to various tuners n ppl

thanks for you help!
