hey guys,

i've got a mate who's got a 91 model s13 ca18de, auto. its all stock, clean paint, green in colour, 6mths rego plus 2 amps and sub and deck, and also stock rims (currently has black 6 spokes, not sure of kind etc) and rear wing (wing not currently on car). Its just had the water pump replaced and the valves are getting replaced (he was told by his mechanic they were bent). Only other problem is the odometer doesn't seem to work apparently (says 108,000 but he thinks there's about 120,000 on it)

He's after 6 for it. Do you reckon that is reasonable? sorry i dnt have any pics at the moment but i am tryin to get some.

Hard to say...

I sold my 1990 ca18de 18" rims, stereo, sub, exhaust etc etc for 2.5k earlier this yr. Altho mine was in need of a respray ;)

yeah the paint is pretty clean on it so i dunno how much of a difference that'll make

I sold my CA18DE with kit, wheels, stereo, exhaust, nismo suspension, immaculate inside and out for 7k around 6 mths ago...but mine was manual. An auto will obviously fetch less and being close to stock I'd say 5k if you're lucky.

that green is also not the most loved colour.

if he wants it sold, he'd be looking at the type of person looking for a cheap body to do an engine conversion in to.

$3K - $4K would be reasonable.

SR20det and manual box fitted would be about $5K minimum.

you can get an average condition sr20det manual S13 for about $10K - $12K

RB conversion ones are even cheaper.

how much would an RB conversion be do you reckon? would it be cheaper to maybe do an RB20DE or RB25DE?

rb20de and rb25de are great engines when used as door stops.

RB20det conversion for someone who takes an auto ca18 silvia to a workshop to drive out with an RB20det and manual would need to bring about $5K with them I'd say.

check NS.com for others that have done a conversion.

it would be a lot cheapr if you had the equipment to do it yourself.

half the cost is labour really.

Having said that, I almost bought a black S13 with RB20 conversion for $10K.

it also had, exhaust, fmic, gtr injectors, rb25 turbo, remaped ecu, aftermarket radiator and large thermo fan, 5 stud conversion, R32 GTR wheels, R32 GTST brakes front and rear, R33 GTR seats, Tein coilovers, 17x9 mags which looked decent with lots of rubber, aftermarket clutch and flywheel etc etc..

basically, it was a registered, legit rb20 converted S13 with great list of mods for an asking price of $4K more than what your mate is thinking for his car.

get me?

    • Not sure the US can import anything other than the C34 Stagea's, but if you can and you need to to tow, DO NOT under any circumstances get an M35 Stagea. If it is just as a family car and your country/state allows it, absolutely and definitely get an M35 (3.5L if possible as it is effectively a 350Z) over a C34.
    • Punch your VIN (nm35-xxxxxx) into Amayama.com You can see everything there quite easily.
    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
