WET-25T
Hey ppl, Just wondering with the xforce 3" turbo back exhaust which cat would be better, the 3" or the 3.5"? Also for which ever is better can you explain a little for why its better because the 3.5" cost more :S. Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/200030-x-force-exhaust-3-cat-or-35-cat/ Share on other sites
frozenwaffles
hey dude, i have a full xforce 3.5" system from just jap. all stainless steel. very good and im very happy, but just be carefull with the volume. i think im over the legal limit... as for size the 3.5" has a bigger resonator which i think keeps the volume lower plus the bigger set is better if your gonna go for bigger power figures later down the track... WARLORD
3.5 inch all the way to the bank Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/200030-x-force-exhaust-3-cat-or-35-cat/#findComment-3561965 Share on other sites
Dragonforce
I have a 3" with the bigger resonator. Is very quiet lol, no way that its over. After putting it on i was actually wondering if i had remembered to take all the stuffing out of the pipe sections lol. Great performance upgrade tho, spools much nicer now, and JJR do great prices on them. I was quoted $600 extra by the so called "wa supplier" of these than just jap. So you pretty much cant go wrong with either but given the choice, go the 3.5 from the cat back with the oval resonator. U will have no troubles. But just so you know they do hang kinda low. Cheers, Dragonforce Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/200030-x-force-exhaust-3-cat-or-35-cat/#findComment-3562033 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
For a 3" exhaust, a 3" cat is fine. If you have a 3.5" exhaust, you'd getr a 3.5" cat. Just logic really Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/200030-x-force-exhaust-3-cat-or-35-cat/#findComment-3562061 Share on other sites
WET-25T
Hey thanks for the replies, I dont think i explained it properly. Im gonna get a full 3" exhaust, im not getting a 3.5" at all but what i wanted to know is with the 3" exhaust what would suit it better... A 3" cat or 3.5"cat both are for a 3"exhaust? Nismoid knows what im talking about. Just asking cause you get an option with which one you want. Thanks again guys Edited January 4, 2008 by WET-25T Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/200030-x-force-exhaust-3-cat-or-35-cat/#findComment-3563504 Share on other sites
frozenwaffles
3'' cat. i would imagine 3.5'' would not fit...maybe 0.5'' too big Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/200030-x-force-exhaust-3-cat-or-35-cat/#findComment-3563518 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
You could get the 3.5" tapered down to fit (with 3" 2 bolt flanges), not too hard for a exhaust shop. But yeah, no point if the whole exhaust is 3" = 3" cat. Dragonforce
Oh sorry mate, should have read it better it was late. Yeah u will be fine with the 3" cat on 3" pipe. Nismoid has the right of it. WET-25T
Ok that does make sense, i dont see why they were giving the option of paying more for the bigger cat. So 3" it is. Lachlan33
I have the full 3" xforce system on my 33. Its satasfyingly loud without being offensive. Ive had a cop ask me to rev my car while he stood behind it and didn't get a defect. Doesn't mean its not over I know but it helps. Anyway the 3" system is fairly well price, and yes I would think the 3.5" cat with it, even if it did fit fine, would be kind of.....pointless. Kinks
You're really only talking about the flange size here, the 3" cat and 3.5" cat might be the exact same body just with different flanges welded on. GeeTR
A cat is more restrictive then an open pipe yes? So a 3.5" cat flared out to a 3" system, will still clearly flow more then a 3" cat with 3" sys... ;S By how much, and is it worth the cost, who knows. In a fortnight or two im using a 5" cat with a 4" system.
