PS, i got RBT'd tonight, and the prick accussed me of sucking to try and get out of getting a good reading.. he had to dogiest looking unit i have ever seen, and i had to blow as hard as i could to get a damn reading on the thing, and even then only just.. worst part was the prick pig telling me i was sucking the tube, or not blowing hard enough... he was about to get decked, and the window rolled up on his nose....

Where do you get these facts from?

Once you have been stopped and the cops can justify stopping you, with RBT laws this is not hard btw, as long as you are on a road or road related area they can then check your car for roadworthyness. All they have to do is believe that your car is not roadworthy and they can check inside, outside, underneath and under bonnet.

What they can't do is search your car for other reasons unless they have reasonable cause to suspect there is something to search for. Checking for raodworthyness items like seatbelts and seats and so on does not include searching.

If you say no to opening your bonnet, I dont know what the general duties cops may do as they may not be up to scratch on all traffic laws (they just call HWP when they arent sure) but I wouldnt try that with the HWP..

Remember they can always send your car to the RTA and not just a certified servo.

It is a common law - right to privacy. that protects you from a strip search when you get rbt'd. in fact, RBT's barely have any rights at all, only to get an BCL and rego.. no drivers licence required... If you get pulled over, randomly by a cop car, as opposed to a stationary RBT unit, then they have to justify why they pulled you over. If they say it is for an RBT, then the RBT rules apply. If it is for a road infrigemnet, ie, speeding, not stopping at a stop sign, then those rules apply. For roadworthiness, another set of rules apply.. they are allowed to check anything they can, IF you give them permission, otherwise, they are only allowed to check everything they can touch and se from the outside... you have, and should maintain a right to privacy, but if you have nothing to hide, then there is no problem... it is the same with a drug search.. they can;'t just pull you over and suspect you have drugs, and search your car - they need a search warrant. car's are like houses, they don't just knock on ya door and walk in without one - then everything they find is inadmissab;e in court, and they screw it all up - same goes with your car. But should you refuse permission to search your car, they will be very very strict on the outside of your car, and might want be pricks (hell, they're cops, they are pricks) and say your exhaust is too low, and make you get it fixxed, even if it isn't, so i suggest you just spend $30 and get EC's and have nothing to hide - i do not believe any modifications are illegal ig you have an EC, but i might be wrong...

By the way, there are plenty of legal websites around, the old one used to be Lawlink(.net.au or edu.au to something.... do a search, or try random domains), as used by myself in high school. thats where i remember most of the law from, as these websites cover everyting, and used to have emails so you could ask questions. It is your law, and we all should know our rights back to front, just in case.... So i recommened we all use these websites and learn our rights, and end the confusion.

As for HWP, they don't even know all the rules, and are so often in the wrong it is stupid. HWP officers commonly act out of emotion, and are easily pissed off. As little as you speeding can piss them off, and they then get all hot headed and try to do everything they can to annoy you further, just as you have annoyed them. They REALLY hate it when they are told they are wrong, and then they go wild. When you get pulled over for speeding next time, pull out the note book and do a road worthyness check on they're car, and ask every question you are entitled to - Can i check your stop lights please?! - When was your radar last calibrated - When were your tyres last changed? - write down they badge number and they name and HWP officer number and station (eg, Ashfield #9 - And i will get vengance on him, tailgating bastard) - they will often not want to, but must, it is your right to do such things, and will often lead to their hands thrown in the air, telling you they don't have time for this, and geting in the car and driving off... not always, and sometimes they comply and do everything... but rarely will they bother, when 30 seconds latyer they can bust another fool, who'll just swear and cop it..... I dream of the day when no one will take the crap from the cops.....

Indirect discrimination occurs where policies or practices have a discriminatory effect because they affect different groups of people disproportionately.

http://www.aussielegal.com.au/informationo...icdetailsid=843

I don't think it could be proved anyhow as it isn't actually a policy.

I think it comes down to not encouraging boy racers on the road and maybe even abuse them as that is what has attracted the attention to us all.

Skylines/Silvia's/180's are the main group as there are so many on the road now. Or anything with a big wing. But even then we should be allowed to have big body kits etc without being hassled as a car is like your own home. You customise it, you work on it and make it look unique to your tastes.

Unfortunately we don't have this luxury in Vic anymore... Police in Vic were given wider powers to search for contraband and such in your vehicle, leaving you wide open to having defects found. This also applies under the bonnet.

They're almost treating your vehicle as a public space, that's how they managed to almost introduce a smoking ban inside your vehicle.

lets make the minority rule. Its worked on so many other minorities, why not the import motor vehicle enthusiasts. You are targeted and believed to be gulity of unroadworthiness by suspicion. That's discrimination. All we need is a sponsor to help this go to court... Its not worth spending a few grand each to make a point, when you could spend that few grand on ya car....

Hang on, why am I so into this - the only skyline in my family is a racecar... guess i had better join the fraternity and get a cop target then hadn't I....

Sydneykid you are getting all your laws mixed up. Common Law has nothing to do with the traffic laws. Houses are not the same as cars. Different laws apply to cars on the street as to private property. The traffic act is very good to police it gives them alot of power. Believe me they can check your car inside and out for ROADWORTHYNESS and it can be for any reason after stopping you. Warrants are not needed to search your car when it is on a road or road related area. Please dont get confused when I say searching as apposed to checking for defects. It is completely different.

You could lock the car and say your not touching it. But like I said, they will just send your car to the RTA and they are worse than cops. They will also give you the major defect which means you will have to tow it home.

A good example of this is when the cops and RTA block raods off and trap street racers. It is on a public road, they can check whatever they want to on your car. They can tell you to start it and rev it for noise, they even bring in mobile hoists to lift your car off the ground. They do not need your consent. Haven't you seen this happen yet?

Look up the traffic act.

Really this thread is a load of shit honestly..

If I get pulled over and sent to Regency Park for an inspection over my Bov noise, which is dead stock and a recirc, I will be getting the cops badge number and where he is stationed.

I have no problems with them searching my car for defects as it looks dead stock as all the parts you can see are dead stock.

There isn't anything about it that would make you think otherwise apart from the Front mount Intercooler which is behind the standard bar and is rather small due to it being a bar and plate.

The exhaust is a 3" from the turbo back with a 3" tip out the rear so it looks stockish.

They simply need to be informed what is legal and what is not as not to put people out if there car is legit.

Especially after that cop hearing my standard Bov noise after coming off full boost in second gear at 1/4 throttle, around 3500-4000rpm so he did a U-turn to come and get me.

I'm at uni and can't afford the inspection fee's or the hassle of it all. Especially if I get a dick head inspector that is on a power trip as we all know cars that roll off the factory line can even be defected.

Has any one driven a VRX 5 Speed Latest Mitsubishi Magna?

They are down right dangerous with their torque steer.

If you drop it back to third to over take a slower car on the open road hold on with two hands as you WILL drift over the road.

But then again, if you accidentally come on boost in a stock r33 in the middle of a slow, wet corner, you will go sideways, ( ;) ) the same would happen in most turbo, rear wheel drive cars, straight off the production line.

I think the point you just made highlights the fact that everyone should know how to drive their respective cars properly, torque steer is reasonably bad on a vrx (i have driven one quite a bit..) but this can be avoided, just as we would drive carefully to avoid oversteer when driving through corners where caution is required.

Guys why don't you deflate your egos for a sec and think clearly. I bet if any of you were pulled over and the policeman (esp hwy patrol) told you to pop your bonnet you would comply. I don't believe for a second that you would stand there demanding their badge number and threatening their job let alone going over to the cop car and trying to find defects on it! Just stop with the BS and admit you'd comply with all their requests.

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
