Hi Guys,

Apologies in advance if this has been answered before, i've been searching the forums and elsewhere, but still haven't came accross a solid answer.

I've got a 97 R33 GTST, and i'm trying to determine what the diagnostics system is. Is it an ODB compliant interface? I want to know as a friend has some software that can interface with ODB2, and if i've got it, i'd like to give it a spin.

I've seen the word CONSULT alot when searching, is this a different standard than ODB?

its odb. Theres heaps of free software that interfaces with it however you'll need the usb>diagnosis plug connector (plmsdevelopments.com)

odb2 is a little newer, like used in the v35 (2000+ model cars), different plug too i think

consult reads the odb from the ecu via the diagnosis plug connector

you can use it to monitor sensors and check for faults

you dont need the connector or consult interface to do those either

its not obd, nor obd2. its nissan's proprietary consult. youll need a 'consult cable', and then consult software on your pc (heaps of free software available). consult cables can be got from blazt.biz or plmsdevelopments.com

consult is on all R33, R34 and on 9/89+ R32's (or 10/89, forget), since they werent subject to being sold in USA and therefore no requirement for OBD2 in 96+

    • Well, i've been told it's going to be in Poland around october - november. It should set off by the end of this month. Waiting for it to arrive is the easy part, searching for the right car, wake up in the middle of the night to see the photos and decide whether to bid or not - that was difficult
    • Thanks mate, i'll keep that in mind. Not sure though if the black carpet will fit grey interior. I'd prefer original Stagea set but if i fail to find one in another few weeks, i will probably come back to you. p.s. - is this original, licensed Nismo product?

    • @Stringycheese hopefully this is helpful. 🤣
    • Welcome Marek! When does it arrive? Waiting sucks.
