basically the way it works is as follows

the police give you a work order of what they regard as crucial elements to be fixed, you are encouraged to get them fixed, the yellow sticker means you have to get the car FULLY examined

this costs about 80 dorra and the car is examined completely inside outside footwork EVERYTHING is gone over, most times, they will notice "something" else which will mean you'll have to come back anyway, and pay ... either 30 dorra or 50 dorra to be re-inspected,.. so in short, first inspection, they check the police's work order, then go right thru the car from start to finish deeming what is illegal and is not, disregarding what the police say. put it this way, the police are police, vehicle inspectors and vehicle inspectors, sooo what they say goes really

if you can get away with the one inspection then i will be amazed, cos more often than not they will find *something* that will deem re-inspection

BUT if you really are keen on getting over with one inspection, please meet the following checklist

ALL lights are operating (you say your headlight is dodge.. what's wrong with it?)

car is over 100mm in height at the lowest point of the car

your wheels and tyres are of stock rolling diameter as stated per the tyre placard

NO engine leaks, cleanyour engine bay before hand just incase

NO exhaust leaks

bearings on your wheels aren't rattling

suspension check out

seatbelts all retract and extend

window tint allows >35% light omittance

steering componentry is all working, no rattling steering rack whenyou "shake" the wheel

all doors open and close and lock and unlock correctly

license plates are affixed correctly and the rear plates lights work

if you have a pod filter, make sure it's braced to the body of the car

hope this gives you an idea of how they check the car

with the lights yeah one headlight is out... bubba, i just checked out the light again with a few people but haven't actually measured the voltage yet, going to my mechanic right now so he can have a quick look... (he won't charge, i'm pretty sure he won't charge anyway!?)

my car is pretty low, i'll have to figure that one out...

suspension should be alright and i have no leaks whatsoever etc. etc.

going to sort out some new brakes now too so yeah i'll see how that goes, Rowan mate cheers for the advice, will keep you all updated

Andrew

NEED SOME ADVICE FELLAS!?

i'm at Rhys' place now, i've basically returned my car to standard...

i've taken off the front bar/snow plow

i've taken off the side skirts

he's on R33 GTST stockies

and i've fixed up all my lighting in the car...

NOW only things i MIGHT have a problem with, my exhaust is still on the car, it's not overly loud...

and also, my suspension i haven't adjusted at all... it's still riding it's height that it was before, do you think i'll have to get my sticker extended or should everything be okay?

anything you guys have would be greatly appreciated, cheers

Andrew :D

too late now, i'm back at home...

suspension has stayed the same and cat is in so yeah i am so damn hoping i pass tomorrow, i have too much stress on my hands right now to do anything...

let's see how it goes, might even hold a 'andrew got his licky off dinner/get-together' or something tomorrow night...

let's all wait and see :)

Andrew

Yeah man, lets hope you get this off. I didnt spend 5 hours mucking around with you two to for nothing  Altho... we did more "mucking around" then work, but meh.

Mark, your car looks good outside my house, I think I might keep it there. You can have the R33, ok? :)

as long as its 100mm @ its lowest point then you should be fine

throw a ball of fly screen in the exhaust and close it with a baffle, shuts the f**king flamin mongrel up ez ($8 fly screen from bunnings $50 baffle from any exhaust shop or jshop)

all lights have to work, wipers, washers, horn, seat belts

and some inspectors(1 out of 11 inspections) check your demister (yes i failed on a f**king demister last time)

OH MY GOD...

get to licensing centre... everyone in admin had gone to a 'stop work' meeting, if you don't pay for a inspection then you don't get to have your car inspected and so i was thinking what the f*ck do i do now, if i don't pay because there is nobody to pay then i don't get seen and if that's the case then my sticker expires then my car needs re-registering which means more time and $$$!?!

get told that lining up is just going to waste a few hours of my life as well as Mark's, we drive off into the car park (we went to welshpool) and called the DPI, had a few words (we were scared they would have gone to this meeting too) paid for the inspection over the phone with Mark's credit card (as mine is maxed out right now) and went to line up...

when i got there, had one inspector just GLARE at me, was pretty scared but i was in a different line to the one he was looking after, when it was my turn i believe i got one of the easiest and coolest inspectors out there, so casual and it only took like 5 minutes, maybe not even to check my whole car, took it for a spin... said i should get a permit for my adjustable coilovers (that i chose not to adjust last night) he said he'll let me off today and that i should come back later for that permit, my rear window tint he can't do anything about because he didn't have the right equipment to measure what level it's at and that was that!

he took it for a spin and all is well, LOL yeah quite an adventurous today, without Mark i would still have the sticker on and be crying my pants off...

tonight, front bar and side skirts go back on and 18'' Enkei's are replacing the R33 stockies, hopefully i can rip my rear wing off too... can't wait!!!

thanks to everybody on here that helped out and lended a hand/had a chat in the thread... much appreciated by all...

maybe have some drinks next week or something, i'm so happy lol

Andrew :D:thumbsup:;);)

everyone in admin had gone to a 'stop work' meeting

aka, everyone in the admin area of the DPI are smelly, trade unionist, bone lazy, sacks of shit that decided today was a dandy day to go on strike and nearly ruin mine and andrew's day...

:D:mad::D;)

I'm' still picking out my grey hairs... :/:/:(:(;)

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
