Hi Lads,

I am about to buy a current model AVC-R boost controller for my R33 GTS-T (from a SAU member, actually).

I am running the factory ECU, and will upgrade my intercooler shortly. My question is:

Do I need a Fuel Cut Defender?

The previous owner didn't use one but had an Apexi SAF-C air/fuel controller.

Thanks in advance,

if ure gonna boost at 1 bar or so then on cold nights u might need a FCD

an FCD gets rid of ure fuel cut (self explanatory)

but an SAFC does something totally different so would not matter if you had one or not, if you hit the fuel cut then you hit it regardless of SAFC or not

Guys, FCD and SAFC use SAME wire - airflow. and they change voltage on this wire. so, if you have SAFC and then connect FCD after SAFC (closer to ECU) this means your SAFC will not work correct and FCD will change the data too... This means you don't need FCD if you have SAFC installed. But better go get your ECU reporgrammed.

with FCD you can make your fuel mix leaner. Same with SAFC, but SAFC has much more control over the fuel mix. (would be right to say over the airflow change). I think FCD is a scam. If you want, i can sell you mine :) I bought FCD and SAFC, but when i started to figure out how everything works i understood that FCD is not a correct boost cut limiter. To remove a boost cut and keep your A/F ratio the way you want them you need to retune your ECU.

    • Hey guys I have a 2001 Nissan stagea vq25det, I don't have any engine lights and not really any issues running but I was curious to see if I could use my obd II scanner to find anything that was hidden and I plugged my scanner in and it just said "Low voltage cannot scan" does anyone know how to fix this or what this could be?
    • Sadly we have something in common, our Skyline's like blowing up electrically 馃槩
    • So, no videos, but, the FAB9 Elite manifold and 68mm Bosch throttle bodies are in stock, but, not the rear part of the air box The FAB9 rear airbox thingie is made with a 3" intake pipe, to suit the 3" intake pipe size of a 68mm throttle body  When they get some more in stock is currently unknown as I'm waiting for FAB9 to reply with a ETA on resupply, my assumption is they outsource their plastic printing stuff to "china", and with the current "tariff war" going on in 'Merica it could be on hold for an undisclosed time Should I pull the pin on the Intake and throttle body, and wait for the airbox?????, that's what I'm thinking... 1. Would the standard 2.75" OEM intake on the air box really be that much of a restriction compared to the 3" naturally aspirated?????? 2. If I don't get the 3" FAB9 airbox fitted at the same time as the intake and throttle body will it need a retune, when/if it eventually turns up?????? As I'm impulsive, to a fault, decisions will be made within....."what's the time now"???....let's say 12 hours......LOL
    • yeah its just so expensive nowadays and its easy to lose motivation very quickly when you start adding up the costs. I acquired the car from a collector in Melbourne and was lucky to get the opportunity to buy something already completed.  I looked at a proper resto and your paying over 300-400K for a proper one (nut and bolt) so this one to me seemed like a much better option! Car is in private storage and for serious buyers, welcome to come see it/drive it in person (photos don't do it justice).
