and i simply responded saying that it really wasn't open for discussion.. Either kell works with them on her cruises, as she has always done anyway... or when they see us out they'll pull us over, and thats when we'll have to bend over and get ready to be screwed!

Do you mean her hands were tied? Like given an ultimatum?

:D

Nothing against Kellie maybe she's in a difficult position, kind of forced to invite the police if you will - if she doesn't they will go to town on any future events that they happen to find out about.

I rarely attend SAU cruises anyway so I have little to be concerned about. However it would have been nice to meet you one day though Ruby.

As Nene has said, I too respect everyone's opinions and beliefs. It really was one of those "had to be there" matters to understand that we got treated well. They had the chance to defect up to 25 cars at yesterdays cruise, but they gave us advice and asked for cooperation. It might be a false sense of security, but its not like we could say "no" either. :)

I'm at Vilis most of the Friday night meets, so you can usually catch me there ... eating cream donut with gravy :D

When the cops say "you can work with us and we will turn a blind eye to lesser things; or work against us", you've really got to consider the best interest of everyone on the cruise. They were polite about it, and we were only happy to conform to their request.

Not an ultimatum as much as wording used to specify that if kell lets them know whats going on her cruises will be left alone...

Why did more involvement with the police have to happen? Everyone got left alone at the last 8 cruises.

over it.

I would think any cruise is fine as long as none of the cars there have nissansilvia.com or RCK stickers on the car :D reporting to Police on every cruise is overboard I reckon - never done it in the past and only cruises I've been to, apart from Kellie's cruises, that does it are like massive charity ones...

and I've cruised at plenty of cruises in the past and had only ever had a handful of cruises that has had Police attendance but were there just to make sure things are good - I've only ever heard of them going on a field day on everyone is when the one or few idiots that couldnt contain themselves. Any cruise is "good with the Police" as long as people arent doing stupid shit...

But if Kel has such a good reputation with them, why do they care? Just seems fishy to me.

ruby, dude, you of all should know that its unagreeable to invite the LAW on the "cruises" ie organised motor-vehicle runs

seriously, you going to invite cops to your bike runs next? LOL love to see that.

rode for a decade, every weekend in the Hills. as you do.

Not ONE speeding fine in the Hills, Not ONE "pull-over" for me in my, what, 80,000(bike)kms in the Hills...........

as would your rides. every ride. seriously, look at it with the helmet on, there is NO way in hell youd accept the Law out checking in on you and your mates while going for a "cruise" (blattt)

.its ok for the Law to tag along organised motor vehicle cruises? no of course its not. what you do while on/in your vehicle is up to you, but to knowingly invite the Law along for the ride to watch/see is plain DAFT

drive smart, ride smart. stay safe, stay out of trouble.

my record, my actions shows this is indeed 100% entirely possible. you f**k around in sight and wear the consequences, go out where you cant hurt ppl (delemere rd) and use your god damn vehicle.

to hoon in metro area asks for trouble. fck, i dont even get pulled over for breathos - its about how you present yourself I believe. ie how you hand your vehicle. granted not everyone can stay between the white lines (fkn bullshit, but how many out there cant drive straight'? we see it every day). to cruise with 20+ same make cars thru metro traffic also asks for trouble. IMO

*************

Look, I'll arrange a southern hills road run one day (not a cruise), law will NOT be notified, it will NOT involve metro area until Victor harbor (after 250kms of driving) where it'll disperese. Mylor to Clarendon, down Bull Crk rd, thru Nangita, slow down thru the Victor rd, then hit it hard to Myponga, Yank, 2dvalley and delemere. Stags and Skylines. best time is usually a 7.00am leave the meetpoint on a Sunday morning, guarantees smooth roads, and a nice lunch to finish off in Victa.

:D

edit: rub's love ya mate, not going at you not at all. just my pov.

Tangles, never invited the law before on any of my cruises. But this time they invited themselves and they treated us well and just wanted some cooperation back. They were very good about it, and its just incentives to let them know anyway.

They're not invited to my rides thru the hills tho :D

good work then, I thought that was the case (got wind and turned up).

for sure would have been the most co-operable bloke there myself, but would have had a nice smiley chat too to the officers involved looking at "mods" within the vehicle (within includes engine bay). hell I keep my mod list on me in the car, aint no problem in showing it. but never invite potential trouble along imho. unless the law want to open the road up, take lead and chafeur us thru the Hills to delemere :P

bwahahahah ! now we're on the same wave ;) --- hooks left, hooks right, 260 and gaining, oh what was that in the left mirror? blue/red? meh who gives... push push back down, up up stand up body wind brake, slam down, push push, scraping left real wall schreeching sliding,,.... flick back, push push 260 and gaining......

:(

As others have said I'll be sitting this one out, my engine bay has to many "Shinny" things and in cop language shinny=illegal.

I would be out anyway as my car has an exhaust gasket leak so it won't be driven until I get a chance to fix it

I just can't afford to have my pride and joy / daily off the road for minor little things just for the sake of going for a drive through the suburbs.

that's all i'm saying.

Thats fine mate. If thats how you feel then thats how you feel.

Just don't assume too much into the cops (maybe) giving us a chance, and I'll do the same. Kell's cruises have always gone great and the police are quite flexible in letting the enthusiasts have their cruises. I've heard more tales on cars being defected individually, than on a cruise.

Hope to see you on one of the cruises anyway :ermm:

    • I am getting the same issue. Did you resolve it? I just got it after installing my new super coppermix and literally the same issue, new fork, new 18mm carrier, release bearing that came with the kit and replicated the exact same sound.
    • If you like - I have the STL files so I can email em. There's a couple of gotchas (i.e the holes are not threaded so you might need/will need) to utilize some M3 melt-in threads for some of the points. However if you want to be super accurate, and are willing to remove your calipers and your SHOCKS it's a really good tool. You also might need to scale the part that measures the tyre width a bit wider. It defaults to a 7.5in tyre and I mean who is running that. Luckily with the magic of CAD this is very easy to rescale.
    • jeebus. glad you weren't under it while performing the stunt. Also thanks for the link to the wheel measurer, exactly what I needed
    • In the older stuff there were very significant differences 2wd to 4wd, for example Stagea had strut front end for 2wd and double wishbone for 4wd so it was not minor to swap. From poking around the 2wd v37, it *looks* like it might be more possible; some of the parts specifically have "2wd" stamped on them which suggests the platforms are more similar. You'd still want to start with a 4wd half cut to swap stuff from though. I'd suggest if you don't have a tune on the ECU you don't really need one on the trans either. Throttle mapping is in the ECU side (and you can always use a Roar Pedal if you want the throttle to actually respond to your foot), and really if you are happy with the stock power you probably accept the stock trans behaviour too....its all made to be "sporty" not racey.
    • So, updates. I have not washed the car since it came back from Tassie. I've driven it around a bit but not got around to actually sorting it out. I DID raise it because I cracked the rear bar leaving a hotel which was very distressing. Interestingly, the car drives more compliant now that it's raised a fair bit (5mm front, 15mm rear). Also noticed that my FR height was 10mm lower than FL. So that's now sorted out, too. I also bought this and had it printed: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1576422240/wheel-and-tire-fitment-tool-universal?ref=shop_home_feat_1&dd=1&logging_key=08f604d9fa4cc383550ba985e6ac85cd5cac7fbb%3A1576422240 Now, if I was smart I would have taken my brake calipers off to actually use this correctly but it was evident enough to me that in the region where the caliper was... there was nothing to hit suspension/guard/arm wise. So I'm going with "it'll be fine" after using the tool to hopefully very precisely measure the wheel clearance. Also while doing this, I had the very VERY bad idea of jacking one of the wheels/suspension arms up while the rest of the car was on jack stands. I did this to see how the arm would travel. This all was well and good until the car slid off the stands and went through a fence. So don't do that. Incredibly nobody was hurt and there was only minor damage to the rear bumper as the car didn't have far to slide, and had 3-4 wheels on it. The only damage turned out to be the fence itself which was easy to fix, and a little bit of damage to the fibreglass rear bumper trim. I had already planned to try a touch up paint kit to fix the time I drove into my garage door to see if it'd help in the interim before I get it fixed properly. I used the Dr Colorchip kit after looking online and seeing everyone talking about it. Yes it's made for chips and not huge broken missing pieces and I'll be 500% recommending it for stone chips after using it for stupid things like me. This took about ... 10 minutes and looking at the half assed photo the 30 second job I did on the bumper corner was almost perfect just by using the tiny little brush and painting it in. The sealact stuff to remove over-painting is really useful, so if/when I do it again I'll likely slather the touch up paint well over it and then clean it up with the cleaning solution. The wheels should arrive in a couple of weeks. I am still kinda confident after doing a stupid amount of measuring (and borrowing a set of 18x10.5+15) that they will not fit because I overlooked something, somehow and flew too close to the sun. ALSO R34 GTR guard liners do not fit on a GTT. I bought the undertray brake duct guides and had the wonderful problem of them not fitting my intake, my oil cooler and the liners themselves were even worse. Attempting to fit them won't work in general - You would have to cut them up as another poster mentioned as the bodywork is different on the GTT. At least I can try to resell them. So instead of cutting those up, I cut up my old already-cut-up GTT liners and extended them by using some PP plastic and drilling some 8mm holes for some nissan clips for the 'extra' bit. Because I was happy to cut them I was able to mount them pretty damn forward so I now have some semblance of guard liners, and the brake vents seal the bumper from the bottom. It sort-of-looks like this, to give some idea - If you look at the GTR and then the GTT this is when I realised that I needed to seriously measure as the inside of the rim area is entirely, entirely, entirely different and could not take any internet measurements for granted.
