Munch And Sip V3 29th Of November Saturday!

r33 baby...il pay the dollar for you on the next cruise i go to

but on a more serious note..food prices have risen and sometimes for a smaller business to survive they have to put up prices abit because they cant afford to buy wholesale items and stock like the bigger stores.

Its not the fact that I can't pay the dollar - I'm saying it wouldn't be much of a competition for the other bubble teas that are close by. Their are 2 in Girrawheen and they sell it for $4.00 for large including sago/jelly. With that price up, how is $5.00 going to attract others?

Yes, I believe that smaller business can't buy wholesale items - but the one in Ballajura and Girrawheen isn't much bigger anyways.

I definitely know that lowering the price will be more affective as I have analysed a few businesses that sells food.

Eg: A kebab store lowered their prices purposely to make it more attractive to customers. Even though they were selling it at a cheaper rate, more sales were coming through = more money :O .

It is much better then having it priced the same or more expensive then the other places.

Again, this is just my advice. If the owner wants to rise the price then I have no problems with it - its just that I don't think it would be as affective as lowering it.

r33baby - yes while the other shops sell cheaper bbt than that one, but is the quality of the food the same?

Shops have different suppliers and not all buy from the same supplier and with it comes varying prices and quality. My family owns a chinese restaurant in kingsley. While my parents try to be as competitive as others, they refuse to buy low quality stock. Sometimes that means paying that little more for a product which in turn requires a higher selling price. If everyone tried to match others and in turn had to buy cheaper quality goods, then where do we go for the good stuff?

Sorry mods, i realise this was completely OT to the thread.

and what if the other stores have better quality and more variety?

How do people know that Munch and Sip has quality bbt if they know their are cheaper drinks elsewhere.

You are definitely correct with the quality and people return for quality, but even if Munch and Sip has quality over the other stores, how are they going to attract NEW customers?

Only one way to market is by word of mouth and support from friends and family.

The question that would pop up in the consumers' minds are 'why SHOULD I pay (X amount) here when I can pay this much at another place which taste pretty much the same?'

Whatever Andrew wants to do with his shop is his business. Whether he wants to rise the price up or down is non of ur concern.

I prefer to pay more for quality.

And take it from a business graduate and masters student.... things cost more then you think. Without factoring in the cost of time to prepare the bbt and prepare ingred.s for bbt. If you think 5 bucks is expensive for a bbt then you obviously havent been drinking bbt that often.

And i dont appreciate you having a go at my friends shop. I think all his prices are fair.. and i personally wouldnt mind to pay more for the food or drinks i get there simply becuase its a new business.. and new business need all the extra money they can get even if its only 50 cents or 1 dollar more a bbt.

Who said I was having a go at his shop mate, read properly.

What I'm trying to do is to help him ATTRACT more customers.

Yeah mate, I bet I've been drinking more bbt then you and for your concern, it currently is the most expensive in Australia.

I'm actually giving him advice. I CLEARLY said that if he wants to up the price then its fine by me BUT i DID mention that is it enough to get more sales.

DID i mention at all that the prices WEREN'T FAIR? NO!!

Well, as a Business graduate, a Masters graduate, currently doing my Phd and working as a Business Analyst, im just giving my 2 cents - not going off at the price what so ever..lol

R33 baby,

Some of the ingredients are imported from Taiwan. That is why the cost is subject to falling dollar. Other shops source there stuff locally and/or can afford to absorb the cost.

That is your original question answered.

Just chillax

Where is the evidence to say that 5 bucks for a bbt is the most expensive in australia?

I would like to see that.

Formosa in the city is pretty much the same cost... infact i think i paid 5.50 for my last bbt there.

What im trying to say is that i personally see no difference between 4 dollars and a 5 dollar bbt.

Ive worked in the food industry before and i see how hard people work and when it comes down to the end profits for the business owner its not much...

Yes attracting customers by cheap prices is good... but business has to survive and undercosting them selves... even if they sell 1000 bbts a day and making only a few cents per bbt is niether helping them stay afloat or worth their time. As time is money.

And im not saying this in at all offensive way... as sure you are very well experience and knowledgable in this subject given your credientials, but there is always two sides to the story.. and it also depends on the situation that munch and snip is currently in.

Anyway its all good =)

At least we both got good taste in drink!

BBT ftw =D

im saying this because ive been in the food industry before and my parents as well...its long hours and the profits arent that good. so unless you are onto something..the marginal profit is not alot.

$5 is not alot considering the time taken to make it. But think if they reduced it to $4 and by the end of the week or month that is a huge difference to the business. And you said the would get more sales if they lowered it...i think they would sell more sure, but less profit and probably less revenue at the end of the month because the increase in sales doesnt cover the profit

I am very sure that all most places sell it for $4.50 tops.

From Girrawheen to Ballajura, to Hillarys, to Morley, then all the way down to Northbridge and Bentley. From small shops to large shops.

Utopia I believe they sell it for more IF you dine in.

Also other bbts tend to cost MORE because of the fancy stuff such as shaved ice, thicker, real fruits etc

All gooooooodd

NOOOooooooo.... i didnt see this... damn. i missed out... was the cruise any good?

it was cancelled? i knew i shouldve stated keep on topic and stop the bbt discussion when i was online around noon today lol, wait til andrew sees this.

oh my god, i actually cannot believe the cost is being discussed in this thread...

anyway i'm more than happy to answer any concerns and queries made...

R33_bAbY:

we have 3 different sizes...

Small

Regular

Large

Utopia for example sell two sizes, the equivalent of our Regular and Large

Easy Way sell two sizes, the equivalent of our Regular and Large

Utopia sell their Regular for $3.50c with NOTHING in it, 50c extra for Jelly, 50c extra for Sago etc.

Utopia sell their Large for $4.50c with NOTHING in it, again, 50c extra for Jelly, 50c extra for Sago etc.

Easy Way sell their Regular for $4.20c with NOTHING in it, 60c extra for Jelly, 50 extra for Sago etc.

Easy Way sell their Large for ($5.20c i'm assuming) with NOTHING in it, 60c extra for Jelly, 50 extra for Sago etc.

Utopia Regular with Sago and Jelly = $4.50c

Utopia Large with Sago and Jelly = $5.50c

Easy Way Regular with Sago and Jelly = $5.40c

Easy Way Large with Sago and Jelly = $6.40c

Munch and Sip Regular with Sago and Jelly = $4.00c

Munch and Sip Large with Sago and Jelly = $5.00

does that explain anything in regards to price? yes we have done our market research, my family (extended included) have run small businesses our entire lives and know that market research and competitiveness is necessary in an industry of such nature...

to make it easier for you to understand, $3.00c gets you a Small, $4.00c for a Regular and $5.00c for a Large and all those prices come WITH JELLY AND SAGO...

if you want extra, THEN you pay 50c more for even MORE extras...

so basically, we have the cheapest Bubble Tea in Perth (in all aspects really)

and in regards to the price rise, as Tom mentioned before, all our products are bought from Taiwan and for anyone that has ANY idea as to what's happened to the economy in recent times, the Australian Dollar $AUD has fallen quite a fair bit which means that we obviously cannot buy our ingredients for the same price as we did before... everyone knows the stock market and value of money fluctuates and therefore we must follow the trend to stay open...

in saying that, i will repeat, we DO still provide the cheapest Bubble Tea and of quality equal to that of Tea Fusion in Northbridge

i don't think there's any more i have to explain or do to reassure our customers...

open to answer any further questioning but i don't see how anything i've said in this post does not make sense, i hope the moderators do not close this thread because questions like these MUST be answered, thanks

Andrew :O

oh, and to all those that understand where Munch and Sip is coming from in regards to price rises etc.

THANK YOU ie. Terence, Brendan, Tom, Steven etc.

i just spotted this post just now..

my family in all honesty does NOT care in regards to how much the other local stores charge and this is for one reason and one reason ONLY...

i know the two stores you have mentioned, one is the Deli and the other is the other Deli called 'Harry and the Boys'

and i will say one thing, ALL my customers that come to me, don't go there anymore... guaranteed, the ones that still go there, have not been to us...

and yes, maybe it's because we don't market ourselves but we actually take pride in the quality of our food and drinks, the second named Bubble Tea supplier actually uses real milk in their milk tea, one thing i can say to that = DISGUSTING... go drink their milk - (literally milk) tea, i don't actually have words to describe it... one of the SAUWA boys actually tasted Bubble Tea for the first time with us and went to the second shop as i believe we were closed and said that it was gross... enough said about that one...

the first said shop, i don't want to rag out on other small businesses as it's not really my place to say but i will express my personal opinion...

the quality of their products is not as a high as standard as ours, also... if you actually know a good Bubble Tea, they're not meant to taste watery, just like how a Bubble Tea isn't meant to taste like cow's milk...

i actually haven't been there to see how much they charge for a normal Large Bubble Tea myself but i know my sister and mother have...

their drinks don't taste as nice and yeah from what you're saying (which i cannot actually support because i don't know) they're $1 cheaper... you can save money elsewhere if you like... if you're actually after quality and want the drinks to actually taste nice then i know you'll be back...

i'm not having a go, a rant or anything like that... i'm just supporting my family's business and i'm glad you're a returning customer that has actually noticed the price rise... if you hadn't said anything i wouldn't have been able to explain to you why that has actually happened...

in all honesty, if you prefer to get cheaper drinks elsewhere (that are in my opinion and basically everyone i know that has been to those two other places don't taste as nice) then be my guest, by no means would i stop you...

and even if they do offer a few more flavours, they take away the true meaning, quality and idea of Bubble Tea...

one thing i'll add, we use REAL Green Tea as well as Crema, not BS cow's milk

in all seriousness, the quality of our Bubble tea is of higher standard than the two places you have mentioned... we consider ourselves to be of the same standard as our suppliers ie. Tea Fusion/Utopia...

that's the most honest statement i can make on this topic without hesitation

Edited by hoony

    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
