Hi guys,

first post here, so please feel free to let me know if I'm not wanted!

for the first time ever, MEA ACT will be running a four round series of sound off events around Canberra throughout 2009. The aim is to bring everyone interested in car sound together and see if we can get something happening in our little state! ;)

The first event will be held at:

Elite Car Sound & Vision

48 Weedon Cl

Belconnen, ACT

Sunday 15th Feb, 2009 10am

Yep, 3 weeks away! There will be 3 sound quality classes and 4 SPL classes. The idea is to make it as friendly as possible - low entry fees, fair SPL classes, trophies for winners, expert advice on how to get your system sounding better and louder, sausage sizzle, prizes and giveaways (best install, judges choice etc) and more.

Round 1 will have both an SQ and SPL competition with trophies for 1st and 2nd in each class. There may be spot prizes available throught the day too.

The classes for SPL will most likely be Street Stock 1, Street Stock 2, Street Stock 3 and Open Class. The street stock classes will be aimed at cars with a simple 1 battery system with no modifications to the car and will be dependant on the number and size of subs and amps. Anything that doesnt fit in the Street Stock classes compete in Open class. Please note this will not be a sanctioned dB Drag event.

For the Sound Quality (SQ) competition we will be running Novice, Intermediate, Expert and Show classes. Novice is limited to entrants who haven't entered a MEASQ compettion before. Intermediate is designed for more experienced entrants. Expert is designed for anyone who has modified audio gear or works in the car audio industry.

If you have a show car, we'd love to see you there!!!

Entry fees will be $25 for SQ, $10 for SPL and Novice class.

If you are keen on your car sound come down and run your car. There is currently a lack of a car audio scene in Canberra and MEAACT is on the path to fix all that, so show your support.

Please contact me at [email protected] or

Thanks guys, and thanks to SAU for letting me post.

this is the first comp in a 4 round series, with a points table happening and cool prizes for the overall winner. We'll be running a grand champ prize as well over the year (ie points in both SPL and SQ, as well as the show n shine + dyno for the last event in october!!)

Let me know if you want more details, and if you could pass the message on to your crew I'd be very appreciative, as we're trying to get as many people down as possible!

thanks guys...

Matt

  • 2 weeks later...

This was great fun guys. I learnt a lot about what I need to do to improve my stereo, and it's doesn't involve buying new parts, like I thought!

Come have a look at the next one if you couldn't make this one.

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.

    • Did you hit up the search function? R33 and greddy and cable returns this thread with some options.   https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/358214-rb25-throttle-body/
