I really want 4 piston brembos of some description, but yeah might be worth a look if any R34 GTT ones come up for a good price.

Yeah for sure, The R34 GTT ones are almost the same size as a r33/34 in the disk department but up close the calipers of the brembos appear a little stronger and chunkier all round.

I am actually looking at 6 pot brembos from a typhoon, my brother who is a mechaninc can get them very cheap, but then i have to do the sums on how much it would actually cost to fit them

Morning peoples.

Very exciting day here in the office.

Wa

hoo

same here, im literally overflowing with excitement.

Im also waiting to hear if my car has been tuned yet so time is going soooooooooooo slow

Is EFI down near ERD ? I thought EFI was good ? :D

Yes they're near ERD, the road before the drive-in.

Haven't dealt with them before.

And she's not just a facebook troll.

year near ERD, to get Dans warranty on the engine i need to get it tuned at EFI, not that i wouldnt have any way because they did an awesome job on Annas car

hate that, oh that reminds me i feel the need for caffine, should go do somthing about it i suppose

mmmm caffeine is win

Hey Andy, is there still a dude at the EPA called Craig (forget his surname). About 5' 8" dark hair, glasses, bit geeky looking but snappy dresser?

I used to work with him when I was there. Think it was level 6 that I worked on... can't remember exactly as it was about 6 years ago.

I have not met anyone named craig yet, however he may still be here, i know harldy any of the EPA people, its like myself and the guy i wirk with are the foreign embassy of NRW or somthing, surrounded by EPA people but not really connected lol

ahhh fair enough. Bit of a lone wolf, eh? :D

Dan B: I lolled - you may too. In an episode of Metalocalypse - they go to a supermarket called FINNTROLLS

woot fixed!

oh and for those of you who didnt know yet my car is finally finished! 301kw at 17psi. Very happy as last dyno day there the dyno made a few people sad with 'low' power figures so it should make 300kw at least every where it goes!

Hooah we're back

Congrats Andy now you need to bring it to Baskins so we can all ogle it. :D

In other news John Deere FC had their first win last night. 4 - 2 :D

Im only scheduled to get it back tomorrow and it is in dire need of a clean (over a year in a workshop will do that to a car) but i do plan to bring it around at some point, maybe tomorroy but if not then defs the next week

Bring it tomorrow and we'll go to the Freedom Car Wash, haven't been there in awhile

where is that? Annnnnnd i just got told it has a water leak somewhere so will have to wait and see if i get it back tomorrow at all

    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
