Hey everyone i have recently moved to Biggera Waters on the gold coast. Just got a few questions.

1. Has anyone transferred NSW rego over to QLD? im curious as to the price procedure in getting a car registered in this state? My rego runs out 18th of next month so would it be easier to just register it as a new car after it expires? If no one knows much about this ill just ring QT but im online now so i thought id post the question.

2. Could anyone reccomend a good panel beater/ painter in the goldcoast area where they have had work done, my first day here my car was reversed into in a car park which really sucked.

3. IS anyone or does anyone know someone in the gold coast area know of a person looking for a non turbo skyline? Since moving to QLD i have gained my open license due to the different laws and am looking to upgrade to a turbo car.

Thanks in advance for any info that people can provide.

Hey mate,

1) would recommend just transferring rego, as it's a little easier. If you register as a new car, transport people sometimes come on look over the car, etc.

To transfer rego, you just basically have to get a RWC, go to a department of transport and transfer rego.

Registering as a new car, you have to get rwc as well, go to dept of transport, but they may want to check over your car. only difference

2) no idea about gold coast pannel beaters, sorry

3) chuck your n/a skyline up for sale. should get a few looks due to the new laws, and they seem to be keeping their prices really well.

you will have to check with the shop whether they can do a rwc. not all shops do it

it's a semi comprehensive check of the car. the basics, tyres, electrics, lights, brakes etc. there are a few places in bris that i could recommend, but not really familiar with coast mechanics.

for panel shops nearby biggera waters try wells smash repairs on brisbane rd labrador, otherwise viper smash repairs, also on brisbane rd labrador, unsure of numbers or exact addys, but both are listed under those names in the white pages, hope that helps

for reasonable price an good quality work viper would prob be best value :P

otherwise if its fibreglassin work bein required, shoot us a pm my housemate does minor jobs, has just finished doin a repair job on a VN commodore Group A bodykit, front rear an spolier ;)

    • Hello Liam - HA - somewhere in flies - possibly I have an update, but I have been so busy, projects have taken a back seat to getting business back on track.  I will let you know the outcome, but I think I am going to go for the 8HP,  CHEERS.  ELVIS
    • Thanks Joshuaho96, yes - as someone else also suggested, the 8HP seems the 'smart choice' - HA - and ZERO to do with cost, but I am sure 8 speeds will be better than 6 speeds - HA - maybe.  I will purchase a new 8HP,  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Nobody said anything about getting a "...cheap Falcon box..."- it was JUST a question about a specific transmission.  And YOU may have a problem with not enough $ - HA - I do NOT - so please keep your comments like you are some financial guru to yourself.  BUT - much appreciated re the cost of a new 8HP and I twill probably be the way I go.  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Most people I know in the BMW world are swapping 6HPs for 8HPs. The 6HP has a big issue with one of the clutch drum bushings wearing out shockingly early which leads to them going into limp mode going into 5th/6th gear as the oil pressure loss from the worn bushing causes clutch slip. Even with the adaptations in shifting the TCU can't bump line pressure enough to keep the clutches from slipping and burning. I've personally looked at a 335d with 6HP28 with one owner and ~90k miles on it and the transmission adaptations were way out of spec and even though it nominally drove ok I'm confident it would have needed a full rebuild sooner than later. Other than that they're fine, but the 8HP doesn't really have weird issues like this to my knowledge and they're in everything these days so pulling them out of crashed cars isn't too hard.
    • There is an ABS pump and a few solenoids. You could trigger the front/rear solenoids with a pressure bleeder attached with a Consult 2.
