Genuine Hks T51r Spl Bb Turbo ***new***

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

As above I have a turbocharger that is a little overkill for my new application and as such it is up for sale.

It is a brand new, genuine HKS T51R SPL turbo, ball bearing turbocharger with the 1.00 exhaust housing. Turbo has sat in display cabinet for a few years but is in as new condition.

I have taken the turbo to Rotomaster distribution in Melbourne (http://www.rotomaster.com.au/) who went over the turbo for my peace of mind. They confirmed the above specs and it being in perfect, unused condition.

You will notice it is visually slightly different to a typical T51R (smooth compressor cover, silver nut) and I am advised this is due to it being an earlier version of the T51R, with no detriment to its performance. I actually prefer the smoother look but each to their own.

The compressor cover has recently been professionally mirror polished.

I have added as much info here as possible, but if you have any additional queries or comments please PM me.

HKS Japan sell these for 383,000Y, which at the current exchange rate is;

383,000.00 JPY = 4,877.50 AUD

Japan Yen Australia Dollars

1 JPY = 0.0127350 AUD 1 AUD = 78.5238 JPY

I am asking for $3650ono.

I think I've said enough...oh, I am in Melbourne, as is the turbo. Happy to post at buyers expense to anywhere in the world.

Cheers,

Chris

It hard not to get annoyed when people make ill-informed accusations. Especially if they have no interest to purchase.

Firstly you will note the housings (especially exhaust) are specifically HKS designs.

The verification core is stamped by Garrett...here's a pic;

You will note the numbers are VERY close to the T51R in this thread;

Here's a pic of that turbo (also from the thread)

Hope that helps...if you have any queries by all means let me know...nothing to hide here.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris, i said it "looks" not it is...i have a very genuine interest in this item. I have a buyer for it...its for a VL ive been working on. Ill run the numbers past a few in the know. It does not have made in Japan on the compressor cover front tag...ive never seen one like that before could be very early version. Also the rear flange is 4 bolt which tells me it must be very early as the later ones are v-band.

thanks for posting up tag.

ill get back to you as soon as i can.

    • The price isn't the issue, it's how hard my fuel pump is to remove now. I fabricated a custom bracket so my pump sits on the very bottom of the tank (I ran the tank down to 5L remaining to test it, works well). But it is a fkn NIGHTMARE to get the pump down into the tank now =/ words can't describe how much I hate fighting with the fuel pump/hanger now. The other issue is reliability, I'm driving down for WTA in a couple of months, I'd be less then impressed if I was half way to Sydney from Brisbane and my pump fails again =/ The other issue I had was my car battery was slowly failing, with low battery voltage my fuel pump couldn't keep up with what the reg was asking from it. I've replaced the battery and my fuel pressure is back to being perfect.  As for the low voltage situation that killed my previous battery, I've got a 150amp alternator sitting on my desk waiting to go in. Fingers crossed that will sort that issue.
    • OK so I just bidded $500 on an R33 GTS4 that no one seems to want. Waiting on a call from the agent to see if I won. 32 GTS4 is for sale. I can't deal with the temptation to mod it.
    • Might be there for work later in the year. Wouldn't mind catching up with you fellas - can't have too many beers, but will consume copious amounts of takoyaki while executing an asian squat on the side of the road while you blokes sort out your hangovers.
    • I know one example is a anecdote not data, but I'm running the same Aeroflow 525 at full voltage through a regular relay, and while I've had other fuel problems including melting the factory fuel hat, the pump itself has been fine for years. Of course, they aren't *that* expensive these days, you could swap in a new one and see if the issue is resolve. I think you had a previous thread about fuel problems, have you been monitoring and logging fuel pressure? Is there anything voltage related (for example does the voltage go up when the pressure goes down)
