Matty Boy
Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone here knows any industrial training opportunities for a mechanical engineering undergrad in his 3rd year? Been trying to apply for a few companies but no luck so far. Appreciate if anyone can help =) Cheers Matt Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/289404-industrial-training/ Share on other sites

scathing
My girlfriend is doing mechanical engineering, and needed to find an internship for her degree at the moment. Pickings are pretty slim right now, to be honest. She's having to do it unpaid to even get that internship. jebud
hey matty, I asked the boss at work, and he said that he wasn't interested in undergrads at the moment. i nearly asked him how he got a start in the industry when he was doing uni, but i held my tongue. i mentioned it to a couple of blokes at work, and they remember what they had to do to get some experience... i remember how long it took to get an apprenticeship as a plumber. Anyway, Good luck in the search mate. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/289404-industrial-training/#findComment-4851269 Share on other sites
Matty Boy
Thanks for the help Adam. Yea its pretty hard to get an internship atm, I have been trying for several months now and if I don't get it, I won't be able to graduate next year end so I'm just gonna try until something pops up. Frankly, I'm up for anything as long as it satisfies my industrial training requirements so if anyone knows any opportunities, do let me know! Thanks in advance! skylinegtts
hey mate, what uni are you going to? if you go to the unsw mechanical engineering website you can find a list that offers industrial training that you can call up. go to this website and give all of them a call. http://mech.unsw.edu.au/content/current_st...aining.cfm?ss=3 not sure about your approach but i think youve missed a lot of the big companies applications. Matty Boy
Hi Stephen, Thanks for the link, I'm actually from UNSW and have applied for the companies on the UNSW careers online page. I've even tried other sites like Unisyd engineering pages, but I got rejected by several because I'm not a permanent resident/citizen (I'm from Singapore). So still crossing my fingers on the others which I've applied for.
