Driving home last night, and i put my foot down, the rev needle went up to around 4000, 5000 rpm and started to flicker back down to 0 then up to 5 again...

It kept happenin in a spliut second flick down to 0 then back up again..

I pulled up then took off again and it happened again...only happens when i put my foot down, its like a nervous twitch or something

It has to be something wrong with my electrics? Anyone else had a similar prob and can provide some feedback

Thanks in advance!

if it only happens when u put your foot down which means u are obviously running through the rpms range quite quckly it seem that maybe the motor/system for the tacho has worn or something like that and just cant keep up with the quick rpms to be displayed as it can when u the tacho climbs slowly in normal driving. Or it could be something that pushead stated above. My 2 Cents

what i did with mine is take the entire cluster out of the dash and have a closer look at it. play around with the needle but DO NOT put any pressure on it as you can bend the needle or accidentally change the alignment of it quite easily. The needle has a range 3/4 of the gauge. simply move the needle clockwise and you can feel this with your fingers whether the needle is smooth climb or not. (Note: I held no responsibility if you damage this as the needle is really sensitive) :P :P
