Hey !

I have just fitted an RB25DET Engine & Gearbox into my 1976 Datsun 260Z. I have also fitted an aftermarket Air-Con system because the standard 70's system just didnt measure up !

Anyway, I DESPERATELY need somone to help me identify which of the 2 hoses in the attached picture should go to the INLET side of the new heater core. I cant find anything in any of my manuals that tells me which is inlet and which is outlet.....

I have an idea what is correct, however so as not to influence your ideas, i wont say what it is.....Please only reply is you KNOW FOR A FACT that your answer is correct - from past expereince, when you ask a question on forums, you get so many answers and end up even more confused !.

Anyway, thanks for your help.....

Woza !!

Thanks heaps tukr32 - I appreciate your help !

Unfortunately, this doesnt offer any clues - I have this in my manual too. The arrows DONT indicate the direction of flow - they indicate the next section (diagram) and part number that connects to it....Bummer hey ! lol

Cheers anyway ! :D

post-72332-1274022249_thumb.jpghopefully this will help you out a bit....

I agree - those are the 2 pipes in question, however how do you know for sure that the one you have marked as flow, IS actually flow, and vice versa ?....Im not being argumentative, merely trying to satisfy myself in my own mind. If you are right, then what confuses me, is that the return pipe goes back to just behind the water pump, which is pumping water out at pressure - that water will want to go through that pipe that you have marked as a return.....

post-72332-1274023408_thumb.jpg sorry-try this :Dtheres no other places that water goes to so this is the flow and return

Warren im pretty sure that the return connects back to the thermostat housing not the water pump- if the thermostat isnt open ,the water will continue to circulate around the engine without passing thru the radiator. The one marked return would have to be the return because when the thermostat opens,,the water returns to the radiator ,.as you know hot water rises thru the radiator/cooling as it goes then flows back into the top of the engine,,Does that make sense?, I'm 99.9% sure the diagram is marked correctly.........plse,correct me if i'm wrong,

post-72332-1274085128_thumb.jpgi can tell you for certain that on my 32gtr the pipe coming from the thermostat housing goes to the bottom on the firewall,,,,,,,,and the back one on the block goes to the top on the firewall,, thats for certain, i just followed all my pipes and thats what i found . hope thats more usefull to you ,, :) Edited by tuk32R

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
