Click here for Drift Z passenger ride info

Love these nights, Last time we had 3 guys come out with us and I lost track of how many laps they had in the end. We got some good testing data too, so a win win event for us, and a very well run event also! I just wish we had more tyres, we smoked 6 brand new sets of rears (12 tyres) in 3 hours and had to drift on bald tyres for the last hour (well 45 mins of it anyway). We will not make that mistake again...

Get out there kidz, it is a blast and everyone I speak to says that it just simply rocks.

Stay Sidewayz Kidz,

Dan.

Hey Jess,

Thanks mate, I'm pretty over it... pleurisy is not a lot of fun, but the doc tells me that we are moving away from pneumonia as opposed to towards it. :)

As for the event specifics I can't be too sure, I would have to check the driving sports website and that might not offer a lot of information. From past experience I know that wet or dry events usually go ahead, however with drifting being knife edge stuff and even worse in the wet I'm not sure that eastern creek will be that keen to let us use the big track.

Try contact driving sports and see what they say.

Stay sidewayz kiddo,

Dan.

25th June at eastern creek raceway

Tomorrow’s event is going to be massive, over $ 3000 worth of stuff will be given away to any one there on the night

From a HDI SBC-D electronic boost controller with gauge, to, a selection of ELF lubricants products, to sound gear from FUSION to gift packs and shirts from GCG

+ 10 lucky people will be picked out of the crowed at random to go for a slide on the main track,

where they will be given a helmet/ appropriate clothing and strapped in the passenger seat to get side ways at over 140 km/ph

And all u have to do to win is show up

Over 60 Drifters , going flat out hitting apexes while carrying the biggest angle , the fastest slides , the best lines they can get out of their drift weapons

Burnouts in all sorts of cars from clapped out boxes to a $120,000 V8 lexus

Cranking sounds from the FUSION sound off, any thing from street driven beat boxes to purpose built ear drum busting DB cars

Show n shine any thing from clean streeters to super Bling air brushed show stoppers

+ 2 live DJ,s + more

Think you have some thing better to do on a Friday night

    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
    • Just one thing; tapping tapered threads is tricky. Taps are always tapered and you would generally run it as far as you can, but with a tapered thread you have to stop much sooner otherwise the wide part of the taper will run in too far and you will have to thread the sensor in too far too as well (possible that it will never make a good seal) BTW nice wide wheels, I guess the top one is for the back!
    • Welp, good to know. Will have to wait awhile until steady hands with drills and taps are available. In other news, these just arrived! I will weigh them for posterity. Edit: 11kg each (or 10.9/11.1 depending on what my scale decides over multiple tests, the 18x11 don't seem to weigh noticeably any more than 10.5)
