Hey guys i need help with this recently i bought a boost gauge for my r33gtst ive had some issues hooking it up and people mentioned i should changed the vacume hosses so i did as well as the T piece i got hosses that were smaller then the ones already on the car.. Ever since the change ive been getting this flutter noise comeing from the pod filter.

1 reason i decided to change the hosses were that the nozzle for my boost gauge was to small to fit the hosses so i thought id change the T piece and the hosses to smaller items now ive herd rumours that this noise is bad for the turbine.

I know people r going to say change the hosses and thats what ill do but i want to know the correct size to use. MY BOV isnt stock well not stock for an r33 its got a mitsubishi emblem on it so im guessing its from an evo.

Thanks for all the help guys im new to the turbo scene and quite frankly i wana go the right path even if it means getting rid of that cool noise id rather run safe and smart rather then look like some show off who is about to take out a loan to repair his engine

So does this mean my skyline was a rare build partnered by mitsubishi?

there are a suprising amount of mitsubishi parts on a lot of cars. it doesn't mean the cars were made by mitsubishi, just some of the parts were. the mitsubishi bov is nothing rare. pretty sure a wrx i put a front mount and new bov on had one as well. and i had a festiva that had a mitsubishi made throttle body on it.

as for the flutter, did you change the vaccum line that runs from the bov to the plenum? if yes, that is more than likely the cause of the flutter. if you went to a skinnier hose then it isn't able to suck the air out of the bov quick enough to allow it to open fast enough.

mad082 i think ur on to sumthing and yes i did change that hosei went to autobahn just now and had one of the guys take a look and he found that the hose from the actuator had been pulled off and left like a breather ill need to re-attacth the hose from the acctuator to the turbo housing ill get started in about an hour need to let it cool down

ok flutter is now gone i reatatched the hose that leads to the crabon canister and she seems to run smooth now.. LOl 1 more issue and ill b happy time to move on to my boost gauge issue thanks for the help guys

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
