anyone interested in an australia day cruise(thurs 26th jan)??? im up for somthing if someone is willing to help organise, im not to sure of good cruise points down here, im from nsw, only been here a few yrs and out of the scene.

also, i might make another thread for this, but is there an interest for a "stagea forum" like not using SAU, and actually having a stagea club type scenario.... im not sure that there would be enough activity though. I run a pc shop and do a fair bit iof programming and can provide domain, hosting, and the technical side of things if there is other interested in helping out with moderation, gfx, layouts, tech info, etc etc.

throw me a pm and if there is enough interest, ill make a new thread.

Cruise idean on OZ day or sometime in Jan sounds good.

Probably get idea of cruise points from previous skyline and stag cruises.

Regarding the stag forum....one already exists 'http://www.m35stagea.info' and does not get used as much as SAU section.

We are going to orgainse one after australia day to upper yarra dam..BBQ AND CRUISE...Spoke to coparts(dennis)about it the other night there will be a thread done sometime around xmas with meet points with choice of days, travel through healsville and warburton ..could be open to other cars as well not only stageas..as our numbers are not that great..will be posted in vic events section and stagea forum

Thanks vic stagea mick

good stuff, sorry ive dropped off a bit lately, i run my own business and its gotten rather busy in the last 2 weeks, havent had much time to help organise this cruise. im still all in for australia day, i might have another cruise coming up before this one, its with another club, but im helping organise a day cruise down to portsea, not sure on dates, might even leave it till early feb so it doesnt interfere with this one. It will be an open cruise and be very happy to see some other stag drivers come along.

anyway, if you still want some help to organise ausday coparts and mick, send me a pm with some details and ill jump on the band wagoin with you guys and help with organising maps/food/drinks/ whatever u need.

cheers.

Mitch

    • If you take the top half of the intake off you can unbolt the flap off the shaft and leave the shaft in there blocking the hole. Then you can remove the little vacuum canister off from under the manifold and get a spare vacuum line to run to the ECU. I can take some photos of it later. Probably best to get the vacuum source to the ECU sorted first though. Mine all worked mint with the base map from the GTT an I've pretty much let the closed loop sort the fueling and took 1 degree out of the whole timing map.
    • This IS something you also have to configure in Haltech (or at least I did in the past when going from onboard-to-ECU map sensor and an external MAP sensor in haltech land).
    • I'm hoping it's something as simple as the ECU is looking for an external MAP sensor, but he is trying to use the onboard MAP sensor.
    • You won't need to do that if your happy to learn to tune it yourself. You 100% do not need to do that. It is not part of the learning process. It's not like driving on track and 'finding the limit by stepping over the limit'. You should not ever accidently blow up an engine and you should have setup the ECU's engine protection to save you from yourself while you are learning anyway. Plenty of us have tuned their own cars, myself included. We still come here for advice/guidance/new ideas etc.  What have you been doing so far to learn how to tune?
    • Put the ECU's MAP line in your mouth. Blow as hard as you can. You should be able to see about 10 kPa, maybe 15 kPa positive pressure. Suck on it. You should be able to generate a decent vacuum to about the same level also. Note that this is only ~2 psi either way. If the MAP is reading -5 psi all the time, ignition on, engine running or not, driving around or not, then it is severely f**ked. Also, you SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING IT WITHOUT A LOAD REFERENCE. You will break the engine. Badly.
