Yes you heard correct, my Xbox has suffered the famous RROD E74 after 4 years of faithful service.

So sad.

I'm going to do a little bit of tinkering on Friday, get some good quality cleaner and some heat sink compound.

Stay tuned to see whether the Xbox is going to go flying out of my car or if the repair was a success.

Any body have some advice to give while my Xbox is apart?

While it's opened up, you may want to do the disc tray fix as well - search google. This was also a common problem with the console which caused the disc tray to fail open/close efforts.
