Nice car, but any better info on the engine setup? 300ZR's were a later model special run using a VG30DE, so quad-cam/non-turbo motor. This being a single cammer, mean's its not really a genuine 300ZR.

yupp, I was thinking the same as was expecting to see a z32 motor in this..

It's a original ZR I still have the orginal vg30de engine that I bought it with but it has blown head gasket and was no use to me so I fit this worked z31 vg30et engine in it

fez the issue is probably your price

20k is about 10k above market value

yea may get 12k but realistically your engine is a very undesirable combo for a zed lover(that likes reliability)

Better check prices here in the states for that. Plenty of 300ZXT to compare your prices to. I was under the assumption that a 300ZR came with red top RB20DET.

ive got 1 of these in Qld, the 200zr has the rb20det redtop, the 300zr has the vg30de. what does it say on the nissan build plate on firewall? vg30??

jon.

theres a 200zr on carsales for round 7k.

It really is a buyers market when it comes to niche rides like this.

I sold my 88 cali with a zsport motor and no gbox for $1500 which I think is crazy given only 250 came into the country 23+ years ago.

16k wow, good luck dude.

I wish it was otherwise, but I just dont see people lining up to buy z31s for that kind of coin.

A guy was selling his insanely modded 200zr with an animal rb26dett for mid 20's not too long ago and not sure if he even sold it.

I personally cant wait for the prices of these things to go up. 23+ years old its about time...

I'm about to commence an rb26dett transplant into my 88 cali.

You wouldnt happen to have a 200zr ECU, engine loom & sump pan lying around would you?

Nah I got no 200zr parts liying around I wish I had a 200zr cross member so I cld build my 87 cali with a rb26det, yeah I seen that black z31 400+rwkw and 100k spent on that car

Yeah mines a 300zr plated vg30de with stonger gearbox and the LSD dif

only offering advice old son

i have owned about 10 so dont really have any personal experience to back it up :whistling:

You have owned 10 Nissan 300zr that have the vg30de engine in it?

You have owned 10 Nissan 300zr that have the vg30de engine in it?

your talking about fatz lol, hes owned like 10 of every import

oh and +1 about the price, you gotta remember you can buy an insaine 32 GTR for that price

for 20k there are just hundreds more cars out there that are faster, more reliable, just as rare to find, and in talking about rare the R33 IMPUL is more rare than this but it doesn't mean its a sought after car

some cars are rare for a reason, like the toyota toyopet, there are like 5 in the country...but its just junk

then if were talking about collectors cars they are only worth money in prestine original condish, once modified you actually lose value

honestly mate its not a dig at you or the car, its just that the kind of peope who want the Z31 want it stock, or the people who want a modified one will not pay more than 10k

so the chioce you hav to make is wheather you are willing to keep the car forever or sell it for what people are willing to pay

and i would trust fatz, hes never wrong about these sort of things

"edit"

forgot to mention i had a look at a Prince skyline GTB a few years back, the guy had an RB25DET engine in it

the car in original good condish is worth 50k, his car sold for 10k after 6 months of asking for 15k

as much as we get labled the bad guys, we who deal with cars everyday of our lives only give you honest advise

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
