Hi all

Can anyone clarify a few points for me please.

Cam Angle Sensor.......how do i set this correctly to 20 deg ?

Cam timing.....my car has HKS cams and the Inlet is advanced 6 pulley notches (so 12deg)......surely this is rather a lot ?

Inlet temperature, runs in the 40 to 45 deg C bracket most of the time, is this typical ?

My airflow meters sometimes hit 5.00 volts......is this maxed out, and if so, can i fit Nismo AFM's without any other adjustments (i.e. do the Nismo ones simply have a broader range ?)

The car feels better on part throttle, and also feels to run stronger just as you release the throttle to change gear......too rich or too weak ?

I hope to have a wide band lambda sensor this week........what figures am i looking for and more importantly when should i be looking ?

Finally, what oils should i be putting in the Gearbox, transfer and diff

(Have been told its Getrag oil only in the gearbox >...true ?)

Car is R34 GTR, sorry for all the questions but it does not seem very easy to find any info on these cars

1.Fisrt of all to be anal you would want to make sure the crank pulley is accurate(of which it will not be)To do this put a degree wheel on the front and line the "0" up to the original TDC mark,then get an old sparkplug with the guts taken out and a bolt welded in it(make sure it hangs out an inch or so)Put the piston down at BDC and screw the modded sparkplug in.Turn your engine clockwise untill the piston hits the plug.Write down the figure on the degree wheel,then go anticlockwise and write that figure down.Then after work out the half way point from the two figures you got and move the wheel to that point......Now you have your True TDC stamp the front pully with a chisel(however this possition may change after time,so i like to scribe the mark down onto the centre of the pulley and check it out now and then)My pulley was out about 3 degrees or so....I have never seen one thats right!With your cam timing,Did you fit them yourself?I would be checking the crank pulley first them set the thing on TDC and check the position of the cams in relation to the crank.who knows if what your showing on the wheels are accurate.....the thing could be a tooth out.....i would be checking that first that gives you some sort of starting point....I have learnt one thing NEVER TRUST ANYONE ELSES WORK!!!Not because its right or wrong...because you should never assume its right,it can give you a head Phuc and throw a spanner in your diagnosis work!In regards to fluids Transfer case=Dexron tranny fluid or for extra protection transmax z

Gearbox=syntrax castrol gear oil castrol seems good in mine

Diff=LSD oil

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
