I have a 15 y.o. r32 gts-t arriving in september - i have a few questions:

1) can anybody recommend compliancing workshop(s) in S.A.?

2) has anybody done their own compliance work in SA? (apart from intrusion bars)

3) my car has an air pod and a bov - when the compliance work is done and i go through regency will i get knocked back?

Cheers, thanks for your time

Just passed my 15yr old 180 through regency a couple weeks ago, luckily the car came in fairly stock except wheels, exhaust (was quiet enough), coilovers and a couple other little bits. took all of them off (except exhaust) and put stock bits on (borrowed) just in case. Rory Thompson Services (ph. 8252 9506) did my intrusion bars and unleaded fuel filler neck insert, he took 3 days and was much cheaper than anyone else. We installed retractable rear seatbelts ourselves and child restraint bolsters, in teh end it all wasnt too difficult, just spare yourself a week or so to get it all sorted (depending on how available you are). Its obviously an 89 model your bringing in so you have to remeber to get the new vin no. that regency specify stamped onto the chassis (put mine on right strut tower) also...

remember to check your chassis rails for damage

fix ANY leaks in teh engine bay

clean the underbody just so it looks nicer for the inspector

fix any rust

take out the sun-visors (regency prefer none over the jap ones)

drivers side mirror (change from convex to flat)

dont let someone charge you 300 to install retractable rear seat belts... do it yourself for 50 or so (pick up some 2nd hand ones off another r32 and install em urself)

make sure ALL of your lights work, and your heater and defogger vents up front work.

check your brakes

ummm... i think thats about it, oh and any aftermarket steering wheel or gearknob change for stock, and yes they will ping you on your BOV, the pod maaybe ok, depending on how secure it is, if u can get a hold of the stock airbox, chuck it on.

if u have any other query's, PM me or post here.

Hope this helps

    • I did basically the same procedure on a ZF6HP but the reason to pull the valve body is to replace the seals between the valve body and the transmission which are notorious for leaking pressure with age causing poor shifting and burning out the clutches. If you just wanted to exchange all the fluid you should be able to undo one of the transmission cooler return lines to drain into a bucket while using the pressure filler to keep it topped off.
    • The title should have posted "EFR7670 exhaust housing selection RB26" I can seem to edit thr title on my Android.
    • I'm looking for some real world experiences/feed back from anyone who has personally ran a EFR7670 with a 1.05 exhaust housing or a .83 I'm leaning towards the .83 because its a street car used mostly for spirited driving in the canyons roads. I"m not looking for big numbers on paper. I want a responsive powerband that will be very linear to 8000 rpm. I dont mind if power remains somewhat flat but dont want power to drop off on top. The turbo I've purchased is a 1.05, although the mounting flange T3 vs T4 and internal vs external waste gates are different on both housings, I not concern about swapping parts or making fabrication mods to get what I want. Based on some of the research I've done with chat gpt, the 1.05 housing seems to be the way to go with slightly more lag and future proofing for more mods but recommends .83 for best response/street car setup. AI doesn't have the same emotions as real people driving a GTR so I think you guys will be able to give me better feed back 😀
    • Surely somebody has one in VIC. Have you asked at any shops?  Is this the yearly inspection or did you get a canary?
