Yeah but have you seen the 18's they give ya.... and if you do like the 18's in the package they give you the worst "H' rated tyre imaginable....

OK, due to the camber of my wheels My brand new GGrid II's 255 series worth a bucket load!! were worn within 6 months! I went to Auto Barn just off Oxford st i think ummm near Graham Farmer entry in East perth.

There is a guy there called Jawid..... He was at the auto Salon and is a true gentleman! a lot of these tyre stores take your car do a quick job while your sipping tea in there reception then see ya later. Jawid talks about what he is doing whilst doing it! I learnt all about balancing them and alignment info. I got some tyres from him about 2 months ago and never had any probs since and saved HUNDREDS!!!

I have dealt with him and he has been excellent!

He sells mags in there and sells tyres HEAPS cheaper than bob jane! give him a go! he should have or can get what ya looking for! Westate Autobahn...any probs trying to find the number lemme know and i will track it down... hes open on sat mornings aswell.....

john @ wheels world can get his hands on most packages but youll find them just as expensive as bob jane i reckon

maybe try find some 2nd hand wheels from importers? you can get 18s fairly cheaply that way. a mate of mine got a set of 5 spoke 18s with tyres for his soarer - $1000 trade in for his srd soarer rims/tyres and they look really nice as well...

a little less than a year ago I went there in search of an upgrade for my old 15's, and asked about some Advantis (which turned out to be about 500p/w). But I mentioned that I was in the Silvia club, and from what I remember, the price dropped to about 240p/w or something as crazy!? Maybe when the Skylines WA Club is up and running then they'd be a good group to link with?? I couldn't believe how cheap they were!

also I was at mr mags yesterday and they have some pretty competitive prices - on one set they were 600 I think less for a set of 4 rims than these two other groups off of the internet

anyway, food for thought

R33_Cam, just a thought, but if you know the exact wheel you want, it may be worth giving one or two of the large wheel companies over east a call and see what they can offer - I have heard of some good results from doing this - there was one in the latest fast fours that said they deliver australia wide and are open 7 days - sorry starting to digress. Also another option - give beaurepairs in Rockingham a call, ask to speek to darren, he saved me hundreds on a really nice set of wheels

    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
    • Well the articals keep saying a Q50s (Skyline in Japan) with a new Manual gearbox. I like the talk about the new looks with the round tail lights. I hope they bring back the retro look like they did with the Z
