Hey all,

I’m looking into importing a car from Japan, and want to know ALL the cost’s involved when importing. Like lets say I buy a Skyline for $7000, then what are all the other cost’s I have to pay, and what are all those other cost’s called?.

There are a few things like:

1. compliance (changing things in the car so they comply to Aussie regulations)

2. import freight (shipping the car over)

3. auction fee

4. importer fee

5. customs duty

6. new rubber (not included in compliance most of the time it would seem)

Anything else I missed?

Although I haven't used J-Spec, they have a good calculator which will answer all your Qs. www.j-spec.com.au -> auctions -> import calculator.
