So just wondering when it comes to everyone's cars, did you import and comply yourself, go through a importer or buy it from an existing owner??? I would love to get another turbo as they are alot of fun but at the end of the day i want something different from all the other skyline owners. Dont get me wrong and im not having a go at any of you at all, but i guess i like to be more of an indiviual

:)

The my g/f's 300ZX, my GTR and my soon to arrive MR2 GT, I bought thru Prestige Motorsport and have done all the compliance myself.... everything was pretty easy, but it would be far easier if you don't have contacts to just buy something already here.

The clear short fall of buying sight unseen is that you don't really know what your buying until it arrvies, PM's inspect reports are pretty close, but in the case of the GTR they didn't know that the turbos had sht themselfs.... a costly couple of components if unlike me you didn't already have some spares waiting.

Compliance costs are generally around $1k extra for 4 new belts etc etc, plus rego, plus a service, plus a good cut and polish and maybe some bodywork, new stereo and maybe tyres, pads and rotors.... by this time your fast approaching the same price as an import dealer car that you get a warranty with.

brought mine local.

GMB, I still think skylines are bloody rare down here when you compare to other makes and models. I'm lucky to pass maybe 5 in a week and they are always the same ones.

I hardly see any at all. You make it sound like they're everywhere.

I think that skylines are still a pretty special car to have down here. Although after reading http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...53&page=1&pp=25 I could be tempted into getting a strawberry face sil80. yum!

I wouldn't go as far as saying rare JaFF, hit up Kingston Beach on a good weekend mate and you will see 5 or 6 there alone. Im not saying that there as common as Fords or Holdens but it seems there growning in numbers these days. Compared to when i built my first turbo car not many on the roads then. One of these days i will have something for fun again, who knows what it will be??? If i see a bargain import then someone might be able to twist my arm

so how many skylines would you guess to be in the state?

seeings as there is about 300,000 cars in tas, probably well under 100 skylines. seems pretty rare to me.

You would be suprised how many there are. I can name over 10 straight off the bat and that doesn't include peeps i know that have a race/track car skyline. Im not saying there everywhere im just saying that go back a few years ago and you were lucky to see the occassional import on Tassie roads but these days it seems like every 4th car i see of late is an import of some kind. I dont care what other people's opinions are on other cars or what the like, all im saying is that import cars in general and A LOT of skylines are getting around on Tassie roads and i was wondering if they imported and prepped or bought direct???

No, Launceston, I'm not the guy at perth with the Supras!

You private or sell on behalf of the public??? What can you get in the way of cars and are your avenues limited at all in what availiblity you can look at???

Only private, have a 55000km GTS4 R32 on the way soon, and also a super neat standard R32 GTSt in rare factory green following that.

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
