Hi guys, I am new here and have read, and read hundreds of posts to answer my question but am having trouble finding a solid answer.

I have a 93 R33 GTS-T and have blown the turbo. I am wondering what are the cheapest and easiest options for a simple bolt on replacement ??

What different brands offer direct bolt-on replacements ???

Any help you guys can offer will be much appreciated as I am a total newbie to turbos and I have limited funds to replace the blown one. Thanks Trev....

If you have limited funds the best bet would be to get the blown turbo reconditioned and high flowed. After getting the turbo high flowed is usuallyg ood for 400hp or so.

Usually costs around 1500.

www.gcg.com.au

Or if you want to spend more money there are heaps of aftermarket items from HKS, TRUST etc etc.

www.nengun.com have some good prices.

Hope this helps

Or are they even any direct bolt on replacements ?? Sorry if these questions are common knowledge but I read for a few hours trying to find a direct replacement with no luck. I have been looking at a few for sale on an auction site but am worried they aren't as they say direct bolt on. I have been told I need to change oil lines and exhaust or something like that. Please guys any help you can offer would be a huge help. Otherwise I have to get this one rebuilt. Again Thanks all for your time and help on this. Have a good week... Trev

buy another stock one .. bolt that back on and keep driving ..and save up some cash to have your blown one rebuild.

few for sale at the moment in the for sale section .. 350 - 450 bucks..

Matt

Thanks for that Matt. Is the stock turbo going to be the only turbo that I can bolt on with no other mods needed ?? The money isnt really an issue anymore because I'd rather upgrade it to a better turbo now than buy a stock one and then spend more money in the future upgrading that one..... Thanks again for everyones help on this..... Cheers Trev...

it'll bolt straight back in.

use it for a little while ..get your blown one hi flowed.. fit that back up ..that'll bolt up all the same as before ..then sell the stock one u used in the mean time.

i mean its up to you really..... GCG is in your area ..well i think they sydney based anyways.. and its about a 4 day turn around or something depending on work load.

most other bolt on turbos will require different oil and water lines.. but u usually buy them as a "bolt on kit" with everything u need to bolt on ..... if u want bolt on ..buy a FULL kit. not just the turbo ....saves u running around that way.

all the best buddy

Matt

Also, a bigger turbo, such as a hiflow GCG or HKS, etc., require the support systems.

Such as: Programmable ECU, Larger injectors, Larger fuel pump, 3in turbo back exhaust, FMIC, etc. If you do not have these fitted and do not want to spend BIG dollars to get them done, i suggest you buy another second hand std turbo.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
