Supra Cores

Just a quick question, has anyone used or had experience with the Supra cores on a Skyline. Im referring to the 7M-GTE version with the outlets on the same side. Handy for RB20 owners with both pipes on the same side

It seems to me like theyd be a pretty good size for an RB20DET, however ive heard about them being generally inefficent. I believe the measurements are about 500 x 280 x 75.

In terms of scope of development of my engine, im really only looking to run 0.8-0.9 bar safely... which at the moment is proving dangerous on the stock core (already broke 2 exhaust valves due to detonation and lunching a spark plug).

The future may hold an RB25DET, so im not too fussed about spending heaps on the 20.

should be fine but I dont think your cooler is the problem

check your timing it should be at 15 degrees or even the type for fuel you use shouuld be 98 not plp which is 95

your car might have an after market ecu tuned for high rom fuel or your fuel pump could be on the way out I would look at these area's

Its running Blitz Access ECU, always runs Ultimate 98 in ze tank.

yeah seeing the specs on your car the vblitz ecu could be the culptrit if you can put the car on a dyno.

Its been on the dyno, 184hp at the treads. Anything youd like to know? Ive even had a full Lambda print out to determine if theres any fuel issues.

Its handy having a mate who owns a Dynapack Dyno...free dyno runs!

Oh that was on standard boost btw Havent dyno'ed it yet on higher boost.

no I'm just saying look for the detonation issues the cooler will help and they are good value the supra ones good for a stock rb 20 turbo .

Is you timing @ 15 o or is it higher

Ahh, timing is an unknown at the moment. I'll take it down to speedworks during the week and get it checked. Thanks for the tip.

Have you got a cooler set of plugs in.

This will help prevent detonation by removing some heat from the combustion chamber.
