I put my Ball & Spring Boost Controller on today and at first it was on like full boost. Went right upto 14psi. It sounded insane and it felt soooo much faster conpared to the 6 i was used to. Turned it down to around 11psi but the boost holds really weird and my auto wouldnt change out of 2nd. It kept kinda spiking and fluttering away on my boost gauge.

Now my TCC Work BOV that I put on a week ago finally makes some noise as my boost it up. But it sounds bad...like a SSQ BOV and a Monza put together....

The crack in my radiator also grew around 15 cms and practically all my coolant escaped...I got some Selleys ARALDITE Super Strength to try to seal the crack but i wasnt successfull the first time as I got impatient after 6 horus and started the car to see if it would seal but it just blew holes through it, so im trying again overnight and hopefully it holds tomorrow.

I'm getting a new Aluminuim top tank made up and put on for my radiator on monday so that should be good.

Took my Ebay Ball & Spring controller off as it doesnt seem safe to me.

I got a GFB Atomic boost controller http://www.gofastbits.com.au/index.php?par...b_option=atomic to go on once my radiator is back.

These are probably a stupid questions but...

Can anyone give a straight answer about getting your engine re-tuned once a boost controller is fitted..?

If you don't does this lead to detonation, or leaning out?.. or anything else that may be detrimental?

Also what is a safe boost increase for a stock FJ with 2.5 exhaust and no cooler?... around 8 pound?

Cheers.

I'd be putting it on a dyno to make sure its not leaning out etc etc, if thats all good then a retune isnt in order, if it is leaning out a retune is in order...

They already run 7 from factory, so maybe 10????

I've got an atomic boost controller on my HR30 and it seems to be holding boost very well and it's been on for about 10000km's running 11psi before I took it off the road to fix other problems.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
