Yes ANDRA tech regulations require a approved welded in roll cage

but contrary to popular belief......the cage is only one of the requirements

Personal

Full FIA approved race suit

flame retardent undergarments (socks, pants, shirt and balaclava)

ANDRA approved helmet

FIA race boots

Arm restraint/or window net

ANDRA UDL licence

total cost...between $2500-$3500

Vehicle

Roll cage

FIA approved race harness (seat belts)

Belhousing sheild

harmonic balancer shield/or billet steel item fitted

tailshaft loop/loops

rear firewall (if boot mounted fuel system)

battery isolation switch

open ended wheel nuts

ANDRA tech inspection

total cost...between $3500-$4000

So its more than a cage and costs between $6000-$8000 to comply

Sick of reading that people got booted because they didnt have a "cage"

You have to do ALL of that if you run a 9.99 - 10.99 second pass ? :D

I was aware of a lot of those requirements, but I always say "without a cage", because thats the primary reason most people never do all of the stuff above, as a cage would be very hard for them to own a car with... the other stuff wouldn't effect it.

However, next time I'll make sure I write.... "Hey got booted for ....." and write all your replies :)

Not complying....simple

Yep, that's correct.

Thanks for the information anyway... I knew there was much more to it but didn't know the exact specs (as I don't have a 10 second car)

i wish it was just a cage......would have been cheaper

you see my point though...you always hear..."oh he didnt have a cage" generally from people who dont know the rules, or are ignorant to them. Was not trying to put you in your place ThommO just making you and other readers aware that theres more to it than the cage.

Hi Brad....sorry for the mistake...its Paul. We got the blanket....but should be called scatter shield..as its got cat guts all over it!

Hey Paul, that just proves it's street driven :) It's a big step from the 11's to 10's, we are going to have to decide if we are going to want to race often enough to justify all the gear for tech inspection or just run the time once.

ah ok, thanks for confirming that.

as that may be somehting Paul will have to add to his list.

mick

dont think that our set-up will run 140MPH...but we do have 6psi of boost up our sleeve....just in case we need to use it. The boost gives us another 40kw at the treads

are you willing to tell us your goals atm paul for Jambo?

your aiming on competing with Theo & Mark Jacobson?

mid 9s?

i hear Mark has made some more improvements and is wanting low 9s from jambo.

The car wont go any quicker than it has before at jambo. I am running a conservative setup as I only need to make top 16. Yes, i wont be aiming to compete with mark and theo, i will be competing with them. As the elimination is on a DYO handicapped system all cars in top 16 are on a level playing field. No point running the cars guts out in eliminators. Ill be shooting for 9's at the SAU drag day.

Yep, that's it. The only thingI would add is that you can get a four point rollbar in place of the six point rollcage which is good to 10.000. For a regularly street driven car this might be a lot easier to get away with.

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
