This is my opinion from seeing a few done to other peoples cars, but I don't think that they are any good at the moment. I've seen them on a few different cars, including a 200SX and an R34GTR, both had serious problems.

The 200SX was an auto, and the E-manage says that it works with auto's, but it didn't, kept melting coil-packs. Upon quizzing TRUST about it they said that they had never actually tried it on an auto, they just assumed it would work.

I think that it is going through the teething problems that all EMS go through, and oneday it will be a very good product, but at the moment I don't think it is.

If anyone has another experiance then I'll be more than happy to hear it.

See'ya:burnout:

  • 2 weeks later...

the emange is a interceptor type ECU, tuning is done via a laptop which is linked with what seems to be a 9pin serial <-> USB cable.

software is not bundled with the unit and needs to be purchased seperately.

16 x 16 (load vs RPM) in the basic package, much like a SAFC except this is load vs RPM.

Easy/Hard to tune? Dude that depends how competent YOUR tuner is...

What else do you need to know?

ed,

This is correct. I have heard many a positive testimony to match the couple of negative ones. Try the e-manage forums (there are at least 3 that I know of). Most car owners are very satisfied.

After looking at the software it appears very intuitive.

rev210, yes....and you can hook it up to a profec e-01 for the wank factor scale of 10/10

rev, can you PM me the forums? I'm very interested in reading more on them :D

cs, what are you confused about? depends how much you want to spend....basic package of the emanage works just like a SAFC but much cheaper than a PowerFC. You can slowly upgrade the emanage with the ignition harness and then the injector harness (if upsized injectors) and also hook it up to the e-01 to tune via the e-01's screen.

One thing I did notice with the software was if you upgrade injectors and you already have a basic tune BEFORE the injector upsize, you simply enter in the % increase of the injectors and it automatically adjust your maps to suit. :D

Perhaps wander down to your local tuner and see if they have done any emanage units.

People's good exeriences and success are far more valuable than negative feedback, except where the negative feedback is all you can find. This is simply not the case with the e-manage. I know I'd rather speak to someone who made the e-manage work than someone who couldn't, the guy who couldn't can only tell you what not to do.

    • They're all horrible. X-Trails have had a nasty sounding 4cyl since forever, no matter what engine family it came from. The CVTs only made that worse. Then the whole Renault thing only made every Nissan that was contaminated by them even worse again. The only fun I've had in a X-Trail was having it blown sideways across a frozen Minnesota highway at 90 mph trying to make it to the airport to get out of the frozen hellhole of Hoth. Nearly died. Was great fun.
    • Alrighty, I'll have to grab a couple pics and type out something soon in another post. I haven't driven a modern X no, this would be the first one really. Yeah the rental boxes are always cheap as chips right? So I'd doubt that anyone was handing out GTs to go and abuse. But I s'pose I could be wrong for sure. New cars these days though? Pretty unimpressed with what I see now; 20 years and all that, like you said. It just kind of worked out to have these two cars now. I'm pretty pleased with that, don't need much else. I'm sure you lads are right about the temps and for sure, you wouldn't have much time to drive 'em down there if you all were like me. I do hate sweating all over the seats though😆
    • Let large companies that are making money off selling kits do the preliminary engineering for you. If they all do -10, then that is all you'll ever need.
    • Hopefully it ends up being something manageable, like a hone, rather than a full bore—it would be a huge relief if it’s not as bad as it looks. Hang in there; these setbacks are annoying, but it sounds like you’re handling it as smartly as possible.
    • At the end of the day, it’s all about understanding the odds and being comfortable with the potential cost, whether it’s horsepower on a build or chips on a roulette table. And I have to say, the Laine example made me laugh—some people really do embrace that carefree, “roll and see” attitude!
