An email from Paul @ Autoworx, may be of some use to someone Hi everyone This email is just to make sure those on my mailing list are aware of the new AHG Driving Centre at Perth International Airport. John Clark manages MC Motorsport from there and provides all facets of advanced driving courses as well as allowing customers to drive their race prepared V8 commodores. You can also take your own car and be trained how to REALLY drive it well. For more details go to their website at http://www.mcmotorsport.com.au or call John directly on 1300 888 987. I have organised to go out and thrash a commodore around the track for 10 laps in December and will let you all know how I go! Regards Paul Hewitt Autoworx Pty Ltd

Impounded cars?

I think it was called illegal gathering. You needed a permit otherwise you could be charged. I think it was basically a fallout from the hippy days when those the sphincter of the universes would break everyones balls by protesting about anything and everything. Then the the sphincter of the universe politicians came up with that law. Don't think they thought that one thru' too well. It's probably still in the law books but I think it would be too embarrasing to try to use it.

How do you have sympathy for idiots like that?
-
agree on all points

Was just having a little political debate. Nothing to do with the hoon law. Yes I agree that it is in to stay. You will probably find that the heat will be on until they round up all the trouble makers and then it will all die down, although that law will always be at their disposal. Probably won't be required later on when hydrogen/electric cars become the norm.

micro-economic reform? I guess thats why they ended up 90 billion in the red. Resilient? certainly worked for Labor didn't it. HECS? shouldn't you have to pay your own way in life, I've had to. Old growth forrest? Tas Labor doing a good job on those issues. "...where as the labour govt is a little bit more wholistic." unfortunately that approach will always keep you in debt and if you are always in debt, more and more money needed to pay interest off debt. meaning less and less money available for all kinds of other things. Eventually not even enough money for essential things. And who pays for it all? Give you one guess. Certainly not politicians. No different to running a business, spend more than you have and you will eventually go broke.

Mmmm, in all the time Johnny has been PM, we haven't had a recession, despite the world economic downturn and Asian crisis. It's been prosperous times. Have got a good memory and don't particularly want to have another recession we have to have, or record unemployment or record inflation. Interest rates are generally a world thing although under that idiot Keating, we did have it higher than we should have had, because he didn't know how to control a run away economy. State Labor has done a wonderful job in upping stamp duty on just about everything they could, including our "lines". Slightly off topic, I know. but Labor, both state and especially federal have always ph-cked up economically.

Back in town I wouldn't be too concerned about "dob a hoon in". There are a multitute of hearsay allegations that have never and will never stand up in court and this is one of them. The Libs said they wouldn't bring this in as it is open to abuse. It's scare tactics by Labor. Although, while there are those morons doing stupid things like hood surfing and burnouts in front of nite clubs, the heat will not come off in a hurry. It's as if those idiots haven't even heard there is a hoon law. I say the quicker they round up these few dipshits the quicker the heat will come off the rest of us. Anyway won't be voting Labor (never have, never will), nor Greens or Democrats (bunch of fags).

Well done MattyP. Would like to know where she got that front bar. Car looks great.

Just noticed a post on the Spotted thread which stated that a soccer mum was driving a new 4by Mitsubishi and it had a yellow sticker on it. If that's the case, man are we in the shit. She must have got the biggest prick of a cop going around. :Paranoid:

We will just have to agree to disagree on this one. The fact that there are laws regarding, fines etc as you mentioned reinforces the fact that the minister had been getting her ass chewed off to do more on the problem. Anyway I might also add that we started the Roo Gulley drag strip as we used to call it at the back of Karagullen a long, long time ago. They were fun times and because there were never that many people around we didn't get any visits from the cops. Don't know if they ever knew about it. When I saw it on the news one night not long ago, it brought back memories and I was surprised that people still went up there. We used to hang around up in the hills so it wasn't out of the way for us. To REPRAZENT, good call, hopefully the minister will be given a copy and advise the cops to keep the BS out of things.
-
Good call on the last part of your post and as for the first part, it is one of the issues that I would like to mention to our beloved minister. I would suggest that they would be in breach of the anti-discrimination/equal opportunity act if that is their intention. She mentioned this morning that she wants the law to enable the public to dob in hoons. That is total BS and she knows it. As I am aware of the law as it now stands, I can not make a complaint to the cops against someone else for a traffic violation of most kinds except something like a hit and run. What she is saying would also constitute a breach of the anti-discrimination/equal opportunity act. The laywers would have a field day. I think it is probably a bit of a smoke screen for the law just introduced.

What don't I see?? If you read my posts you will see my attempt to explain the law as "I" see it. Most of it, to me, is very straight forward. The grey area, namely acceleration/braking is not likely to pose a problem to me but if you read what I said, you will see that I claim a bad cop will probably exploit this area of the law. I have given an example of each of these 2 items that I thought would constitute a penalty. Anything less than that is up to the prosecuting cop. Sorry if that comment offends you but I'm sure that's the way it will pan out. I think you will find that I understand the concerns of some of these guys if you can be prepared to study what I say. Some have made comments that are knee jerk reactions without even knowing the content of the law. My remarks to these were probably not what you wanted to hear. I call it as I see it. You seem to disbelieve the claims of the deaths caused by hoons. I would suggest that the minister just didn't wake up one morning and said "oh, today I think I will piss a few people off and bring out this law. You should be aware that laws often take some time b/4 they are implemented. Often much lobbying takes place by the public. An example was the legislation which gives citizens the right to defend themselves from a burglar. That took far longer to implement than most would have wanted. When deaths are involved, you will find legislation being fast tracked. As far as the new law being a revenue raiser, well because of the amount of people involved, I can not even understand why anyone would make that comment. Do the maths, you might realise the futility of that arguement. Your anger to my reaction in the way I dealt with the hoon in front of my place still bothers me. Phoning the cops was a futile exercise and had I not done anything it just wouldn't have stopped. Oh by the way, I wasn't the only one in the street that was pissed off. Sexzila's feelings for the road rager that hit him are my sentiments exactly and I would be taking the same course of action as he wishes to take. I suppose you think I'm an asshole for thinking this way as well.

That's Ok. I was pulled up just down from Kenwick Motors (Albany h/way), no houses nearby.
-
your comments would suggest otherwise. Read what you posted and your might understand from those comments that you are pissed with my reaction to some dickhead causing a disturbance outside my place

"people who are too scared to drive 60 or 50 or 40 past schools " had you put "out of school hours " that would have made a hell of a difference. As for attitude, next time you get stopped (hopefully not) start having a go at the cop and see if attitude makes a difference. Quote " you saving yourself from an accident by giving too much power into a turn in the wet and recovering from it etc and getting pinned for skidding wildly, WTF is that about.. thats what happened to the rodeo owner.. " if the cop sees it as such, there shouldn't be a problem. The point you made about locking the offender away for a short stint is probably the best alternative I've heard, but the jails are full so it's not likely to be an option.
-
No not a cop, just someone with a bit more experience than you and judging by your comments it was probably you breaking wildly outside my place. If that is one of your habits then it's no wonder we have this new law :looney:

I didn't take it out of context, but some might

I'll leave the Leach Highway incident aside. Lets just say that I know a little more than what you might think about that one. It's not the appropriate place to say too much more. The reference to drugs wasn't that the hoon law is going to stop drug use at all. If you read that post again you will see that I was making a comparison with the old days, when drugs were rarely a contributing factor. What I was saying was the recipe for disaster is far greater now than it ever was. I can't see your point about the govt. scapegoating. Read below from our beloved minister "The Minister said there had been 60 deaths over the last 12 months which were related to dangerous and reckless driving. Seven of those deaths occurred in a six-week period. "In one incident, the two young occupants of a car were travelling at more than 160kmh down a freeway before the driver lost control and crashed into an embankment," she said. Mrs Roberts said there were hundreds of drivers throughout the metropolitan area who regularly terrorised their local communities through street racing, doing 'burnouts' and conducting time trials." Did the govt. cause those accidents and cause people to do burnouts in front of peoples houses or lose control of their vehicles and hit kerbs??? What are you trying to say?? It's a govt. response to many pissed off people and there hasn't been 1 decent alternative mentioned, except by Riazz who suggested that a short stint in jail would be better, but thats not likely considering the jails are full. Driver education? Read KUTTERS post, not more to be said than that. The acceleration/braking thing well read one of my previous posts on braking and that is definitely an offense under the new law, probably some old law as well. Accelerating, well if you smoke your tyres up on take off, consider that a problem. If you have a loud exhaust and you give it to her hard off the line, I'd say that would be a problem as well. If you are not sure what my point is then read the posts again, others don't seem to be having the same problem. I think we all agree that the bent cop is going to be the biggest problem and the accelerating/braking issue as well is a grey area. There are some other points that I will be submitting to your beloved minister for due consideration and will post the draft here in a few days so that you guys can perhaps add to it. DanR33's post will probably be the eventual outcome when all the dust settles

you might like to delete that last line

Yes I understand and I would say not to get too hung up on that one. Most cops will be looking out for racers and trouble makers. The bad cop will take any opportunity to make life hell, there's not much we can do about that except fight him in court. The club should voice it's concerns about any grey areas that might exist in the law. I personally don't see any and it is only the bad cop issue that I think we would all agree on. Bent cops have framed people for murder, a far more serious accusation. How do we stop that, then ?

Years ago in one of my V8's I had, the exhaust system was a little noisy when accelerating hard. I took off from the lights rapidly but hadn't gone over the speed limit. At the time I was a smart ass and thought that because I wasn't going over the speed limit I couldn't get booked for anything. I was unaware of the excessive noise law. Consequently I did it once too often and was stopped and booked for undue noise and copped a yellow postage stamp as well. I guess that would be an example of excessive acceleration. I'd say a noisy exhaust is always going to attract attention. The braking, well I've mentioned that b/4. I might add that my series 1 "line" has ABS so screaching my brakes is not going to happen. Judging by the law as mentioned previously, the speeding side of things will be cut and dried. The proof will be unquestionable, radar readouts, multanovas. As for the other infringments, the judge will be the decider and executioner and I would say that if the offender pleads not guilty, things like past record will come into it. My cousin has mentioned that he knows of a couple of cops that had their cases thrown out in the past because of lack of evidence. I'm sure that the judge will be well aware that some cops will be out to screw people and that's where past records will also help him make a judgement. I might also add as I've mentioned b/4 in the other thread, that the likes of dangerous and careless driving has for a long time been a charge laid by the individual cops. Some abused their authority and some didn't. The stakes are a bit higher now so it's really up to us to keep our noses clean and perhaps the club could go public and distance itself from dickheads like the Silvia driver.

Yes, that would be a good idea.
