Spotted a place in Jade street Maddington called JAP PARTS PLUS. Called in to see what they had and an Indian woman showed me around. They seem to have quite a bit of stuff ranging from panels, to parts, s/h engines, diffs, gearboxes and electrical stuff like window winders etc, for Skylines, Silvias, Supras, Subarus and others. Did a search for them on these forums and nothing came up, so perhaps they haven't been mentioned here. www.jappartswa.com.au

A thingy that sets off the camera

Kutter summarised it well and your concern is not unjustified. As I said b/4, we were picked on with our shakers, monaros etc and I guess I contributed in a small way. Nothing changes when there are high speed cars on the road in the hands of young drivers and it's the hoons that stuff it up for the everyone else. These days the hooning is far worse than it was back then, because there is definitely less respect for the law now than b/4. You need to make sure that the bent cops have no justification for putting a sticker on your car i.e. make sure your car has permits if required and is in good mechanical order and behave yourself at all cost because the bent cop is wanting you to get pissed off and give him shit. That's how he can justify his actions. For anyone who is being constantly picked on "unjustifyably", I'd suggest carrying a video camera and taping the conduct of the cops if you're stopped for no reason and keep ask questions while taping the session because cops are well trained in asking questions and not so much in answering them. They might just put their foot in it. Quite often rogue cops will say things like "I don't like you punks" or "I want to see you punks off the streets". Obviously they would have to be idiots to say something like that while being video taped, but stranger things have happened. You just might get something on them that will enable you to fight them in court and show them up for what they are. I see no law that would prohibit the video taping of an incident as above.

Happened to me also on Roe h/way several years ago in my 626. I swore black and blue that the hood was securely closed but had to concede that perhaps I might not have closed it properly even though I always shut it hard. That was in the day time and at around 110 k's. What a freaky feeling. Didn't break the glass though. Then it happened again at night afterwards on Albany h/way Kelmscott. There was no way that f***ing hood wasn't properly secured this time as the first time freaked me out and I made sure it was closed properly. It turned out to be a dodgy hood catch that would release with vibration at certain speeds. Even so, I've got a stainless steel cable and clip on it now to be safe. 2 crumpled hoods were enough. Night time is really f***ed for that to happen.

A couple of years ago I stopped at the lights at welshpool rd but just over the line. the camera flashed twice but I hadn't gone thru. I phoned the next morning to explain that I hadn't gone thru' and they said that the second photo would prove if I had kept going. She said that if I was still in the same spot (even though just over the line) I wouldn't get fined. Well I never received a notice so that was a relief. The pressure plate must be at the line because I stopped maybe a foot (300mm) over the line.

I'm with Kutter on this one. I can't understand why people get so stressed over a new law like this one. If you are not guilty of hooning then why get so pissed off? As Kutter says, if someone is stupid enough to keep doing it after the second warning, then they deserve to get their car impounded. It would be quite clear that the offender has no regard for the law and anyone else for that matter. Most educated people would realise that it is impossible (almost) to out run the cops, considering they have 2 way radio to call in backup and a helicopter. Most educated people would also realise the danger to others that a pursuit would cause. The ones who steal cars and go on wild car chases with the cops are not very bright people, that is well known. To expect cops to go around all day with a video recorder in hand waiting for hoons in cars to do burnouts, as proof of the offense, is just plain silly. There will always be bent cops, but there are not quite as many as some people would have us believe. Skylines and the like attract the same attention as Shakers, Monaros and XU1's did, way back when. I had a cop bugging me a lot when I had my Shaker in the 70's and I gave him good reason to. I did learn that politeness nearly always gets good points when stopped by cops for something that "I" did wrong. As an example, I was recently pulled up in my work Bedford van for using a mobile phone without hands free. I said "sorry officer, but I left my handsfree in my other car (the "Line") and I got this call and I thought I'd better answer it." He took my license and went to his car and returned and said that I should make sure I have my handsfree in future if I am to talk while driving. He also said that I should do something about my van b/4 I end up with a sticker. He realised it was an ongoing project but that I should tidy up the bits that can attract a sticker. Saved me $150 and points (I think) and a sticker. Now he didn't have to be so lenient but I'd say that he was because of the manner in which I talked with him. There is no doubt that if I had been grumpy at him, I would have got a fine for the phone, at least. I have witnessed my nephew lose it at a cop, because the cop had the audacity of pulling him up because he accellerated hard and his car was almost scraping the ground. What followed was a yellow postage stamp on his windshield. I told my nephew that if I was the cop, I would have arrested him for abusive language. It seems to me that a lot of people on this thread think that this law has paved the way for cops to start making false allegations. How many laws are there that rely on a cop's honesty? Many I would say. They have always had the power to falsely accuse people of going through stop signs, red lights, not giving way to the right, dangerous driving, etc, etc. What makes this law different? Oh, they can take your car after THREE infringements. Don't they take your license after you loose 12 demerit points? Almost one and the same. I think this law has been set this way because so many people these days drive while under suspension and 3 strikes with this law will certainly lose you more than 12 points. This way, because of the offense that it is, you will not be driving you own car if you chose to D.U.S. I think eventually the more serious offenses (multiple D.U.I.) will attract the same kind of penalty and so it should. Unfortunately there is too much ridiculous behaviour on the roads by some people with Skylines, soarers etc and it would seem that there are some who are threatened by this law. Those who feel threatened by this law will more than likely be affected by it. Quote "they can pry my car keys from my cold dead fingers" a rather disturbing comment and are usually comments by those who are threatened by such a law.

I thought that kind of shit only happened to me

If all the nuts are off it could be that there is silicon or similar holding it firm. If all else fails, Bunnings sell sledgehammers

My fault man, should have asked the reason for sale b/4 commenting

Ok, settle down now.

can't get any better reason than that

Hi Riaz, the camber stuff is something "not" to forget about as it cost me $320 for a pair of new tyres. Not something to worry about if the old tyres were worn out, but they had 90% tread and as I said in another thread, it was basically my fault for not keeping an eye on them although the guy who does my services should have his ass kicked for not picking it up also. My second post on this thread explains what I was told regarding the brace in regards to camber. Anyway, I did some searching on the net and they all say that in race conditions the brace is essential, there was no mention of benefit to camber. Yourself and Strich9ine seem to be wrapped in them but it would seem the 2 that have theirs for sale obviously don't see any benefit in normal conditions.

I understand what you are saying and I agree. The rigidness it creates is a fact. I understand that the Skyline is quite flexible in the front end when cornering hard. I don't drive it that hard too often, so that is not a factor for me. Originally I was told it would help sort my negative camber along with the camber kit. Often, they reckon the camber kits won't bring the camber back totally to spec. In the case of a fixed brace, I couldn't see how it would help negative camber. In the case of an adjustable brace, then the struts could be pushed out slightly to reduce negative camber. The downside of that might be that perhaps there might be a larger than acceptable gap between the hood and the fenders, but I wouldn't think that should be a problem. 50+ at roundabouts?? is that all

It's probably called intimidation

Thanx guys. The guy doing the camber kit tomorrow had suggested it as he was told that it would help. I was thinking about it this morning and being mechanically minded, I was trying to figure out how it would help me in normal driving, so I phoned Paul from Autoworx and he basically said that if I'm doing lots of hard work with it, i.e. hard cornering and the like, then it would be usefull. But for every day use and occasional hard cornering, then forget it. So have decided to leave that item out. Can put that money toward my 3" system. Anyway thanx all the same.

Howdy all, need a front strut brace for r33 line b/4 tomorrow evening. I know it's short notice but that's me as usual. Anyone have one laying around (fat chance) and if so, how much? Thanx Ric

CMS Drifter, firstly, sorry to hear this bad news. I'd be checking to see whether there is any signage at the compound that may exempt them from this kind of damage and if there is, I'd be checking if that is legal, considering the service that they are supposed to be providing. I'd also be talking to the ministry of fair trading (I think it's still called that) to see if they can advise you on your rights in this matter and of the responsibility of the secured parking company. I'd disregard the insurance company's response because that seems to be standard procedure from those pricks these days. You could also try the Insurance Council of Australia Ltd ph 93256033.They adjudicate on complaints against insurance companies. Find a lawyer that will advise cheaply and who is prepared to go for costs and damages. Do you have insurance?? If so, they may help if they know that a claim against them could happen. Finally, do not back off and if and when you have to speak to the insurance company, let them know in no uncertain fashion that you will fight them in court. I had a problem years ago with SGIO (mongrels) and when they saw I wasn't going to be bluffed, they backed down. Hope all goes well Ric

Thanx guys, gives me something to work with

Hi all, due to some very careless observation, I had to replace my front tyres due to bad wear on the inside of both. The guy doing the alignment said the camber was 4 degrees and everything else checked out OK including bushes etc. He also said that the Skyline has no camber adjustment and believed there was a kit available for this purpose. He also suggested installing a front tower strut. What kind of babbling bullshit is this. No camber adjustment on a car such as this?? What's with Nissan?? Anyway I suspect that this problem could be due to the car sitting pretty low, compared with other 4 door "Lines" I've seen. B/4 you say "what, a 4 door", let me assure you that this car looks pretty good. Everyone I know reckons the same. Does anyone know the cost of these camber kits and front tower strut and installation of them? Anyway, has anyone had the same problem and if so, how did you overcome it? Cheers Ric
