  1. lol @ your cheap shot, i'll bite anyways. two points were made by Birds in his original response; 1. Serving a lot of beer - Its not coming out of their pockets & its part of their job requirement to serve, so how is that an issue? (Unless all they want to do is have an easy ride/shift) 2. Treating them rude - no disagrement here, not acceptable at any time.
  2. Yeah agree to all of that but you made it sound like they didn't like serving when asked for something.
  3. So employee is annoyed because they have to do their job and not talk shit with their mates? Not like the beer comes from their pocket. Difference with frequent flyers is that there is no longer a guilt asking for something when in actual fact it's their job to serve.
  4. Only someone who hasn't been in business class would say that. Burn
  5. Only did the motorstars tour. Do it again? Hire a Ferrari for an hour drive.
  6. Good times
  7. Leesh tells Birds, Birds tells SAU, SAU(Leesh) agrees with Birds. SAU(Leesh) is LeeshThe cycle continues
  8. +1 w.a is expensive. $30 for lunch and a pint at an Irish pub
  9. Haha I reckon it's because of the mass flood of all imports becoming eligible for it.
  10. Lul wot? Escalated quickly much?Yeah all young people too busy stretching worthless degrees and traveling the world instead of taking shit seriously. Then cry when they can't afford their next 6 month European holiday or buy a house. Im bumping into first year uni graduates who are older than me and I've already been working 5 years with a 4yr degree. I think young people have it way too easy. Maybe once they realise university isn't a free ride, they may take it seriously. /end rant #gettingold

  16. Meh knowing that it ends in 3 months is enough motivation to get through. However basing your families lifestyle (home & schooling) around an income only supported with such a job can be much more stressful.
  17. Gooby pls. 3 months is still honeymoon period.
  18. Most FIFO workers had minimal knowledge of the realities of FIFO work before starting. The number one stress of FIFO work was family/home separation. A significant dimension of the stress of family/home separation related to FIFO rosters; longer periods at work were more stressful, particularly for workers with young children. In addition, adjusting to long day/night shifts disrupted sleep and led to fatigue. Another significant stress arose from accommodation and work conditions on-site, which were isolating and subject to overly onerous rules that for some FIFO workers created a distinct sense of entrapment. Overall, the majority of FIFO workers maintained a ‘suck it up princess, you just do it’ approach to their FIFO role and coping. However, maintaining communication with family and friends was highly regarded as a coping tool. A significant number of FIFO workers spoke of using alcohol and/or illicit drugs to manage disrupted sleep and stress. Very easy to say yes, but I've seen many new starters leave once reality sinks in.
  19. 10yrs in fifo life is quite a challenge. Usually people are here for a good time not a long time.
  20. Lot of jetski's for sale for Mohsen to buy
  21. Iron ore price falling, China's boom reducing. Supply is meeting current demands. Building new mines produces inefficient operations due to all the issues needing to be sorted out. Which means higher running costs ontop of construction cost. Not large enough revenue to take the risk of constructing a new mine. Better off making your existing mines work more efficiently ensuring a nice fat gap between cost of production & market price. Continue to reduce cost of production as market value drops.
  22. oh noez, my sauvic member tag has disappeared
  23. haha sounds like a supervisor on a 2:1 week roster or some tradie on a 4:1 week roster. Due to them working crazy long swings, their wages are obviously much larger than the professionals in the same industry. but yeah, enjoy it whilst it lasts i say. No new iron ore mines are planned for development in the remainder of this decade. Only expansions & maintenance going forward. The construction boom in the mining industry has ended. Unfortunately being in the professional field (9day on/5day off roster), im not exposed to such big wages but trying my best to save whatever i earn #fifolyf
