  2. No, im fairly happy with HBF as they have a very low excess (I think $450 or 650). I might give just cars a call, what was their excess? Was the 32 getting imported, as thats where i ran into trouble, you have to prove how much the car is worth.
  3. Dave, Primary choise is Buddy Club QFs in gunmetal grey 18 X 10. Trouble was Buddy club have stuffed up the order twice, issues with the mould or some crap, anyhow they quoted me 8 weeks to make plus 6 weeks to send. Let me know what you can do. As it stands i'm happy to wait and see if anything else comes along.
  4. Im currently with HBF on my GTSt and they are really good (and more importantly, cheap), got a quote for a GTR insured for $40000 is only around the $2G mark. Anyhow, thats not the problem, because i imported my car it requires an evaluation done by a guy the insurance company recommended, i explained to this guy how the car was an N1 and how limited numbers were made blah blah... anyhow he reckons $30G to maybe $35G? Reckons once i get it registered it may go up to $38 depending what i do to it. The exhaust system alone is worth probably up near $6G! Anyhow enough whinging, anyone had any experience with this and know how to get the evaluation amount higher? Theres no point insuring it for $40-45 if i total it or it gets stolen and the company turns around and says... ah we only evaluated that car at $30G.
  5. Well ive had some issues getting the rims i want for my car. Its a GTR R33, i put an order in with Buddy Club for some QFs 18 X 10 but they stuffed it up and i'm looking at up to a 14 week wait! So now I'm after some brand new or brand new quality rims at least 18 X 9 with standard GTR offset (around 30 i think). Looking at spending up to $4G. If anyone can help me out please let me know.   6. I think you misunderstood me aybee, im talking about a GTR R33 i just imported getting Australian complied with a few things that would be deemed "Illegal" let alone non standard. The guy is also taking it down to get registered as part of the deal?
  7. Ah yes i see, just skimmed through that bit and went straight to the list of approved modifications, again what i love about this whole law schamozzle. So basically if you can find one of these VASS guys who can say your modifications are safe and emissions friendly then you're fine...?? Anyone dealt with them at all? Over here its easy to get stuff across the pits but then again, its WA.
  8. There are a lot of reasons, some of them made up.. Cant adjust power inside the car while its in motion (as opposed to the accelerator!), Increases the emissions Distracting to the driver But it depends on the state, for example i have my car in getting complied at the moment WITH THE BOOST CONTROLLER ON IT! Apparently because the EBC is in the glove box its out of the drivers field of view and so no worries! Its also got a Mines ECU... no problems either...
  9. Ok, im not much of a fan of Blow Off Valves but where in the ADRs or in that vic road site does it actually say they are illegal? If you get defected then sure get your car back to "standard" for the pits to be on the safe side but when you're at the pits ask for the legislation that says your car would have been defective. A lot of the time you'll just get an answer like "It just is", thats not good enough. I know a few guys over here in WA who have atmospheric BOVs permitted even though they were initially told they're illegal. Also when a cop wrongly defects your car and its cleared at the pits, dont just let it go, write a "polite" letter to the police commissioner or ombudsman(sp), telling them of the situation and asking why are their police enforcing a law they know nothing about. If they dont write back, send another letter, phone them up, hassle the sh!t out of them, god knows they do it to us! My 2c

  17. Well i took my car in yesterday to get complied, spoke to a compliance engineer regarding illegal and legal modifications. I was VERY surprised by some of the things he said. Some of this stuff may only be WA relevant but he also pointed me in the direction of the ADRs which are federal laws. After doing a search on the net i came across this site. Not sure if anyone has posted it before but here goes: http://www.ajc13b.com/main.htm theres some links there for the ADRs Anyway i hope this is useful for anyone whose been defected. The guy i spoke to yesterday said that even the guys in the pits get it wrong. I was interested in the exhaust decibal level and stuff like that. Basically i'm looking at getting a real good knowledge of the laws to reduce the troubles with defects (my car is 100% street legal by the way). I imagine that if you start quoting test requirements and ADR paragraphs and asking for badge numbers etc then it should reduce pressure a bit. Also if anyone has the CD with the ADRs on it can you let me know if its any good? Cheers
  18. DOTARS do a ADRs CD but charge $70, ive stumbled across a good link that i'll post up as a thread. The ADRs are federal and each state has a few laws of there own, however you'd be surprised about how much information going around is wrong.   21. Yeah thats another option, just that im trying to cut costs as much as possible!! Ive already got the workshop doing a fair bit, but i'm doing some of the easier stuff myself... so if the car will still run i'll get this done while im doing the rest of the stuff!   22. Ok, currently have a GTR R33 with 555cc injectors, standard pump and a Mines ECU. Can i chuck 700cc injectors straight in without a tune and have the car able to run so i can take it to the workshop (60km) to get a power fc installed and tuned? Won't be running it hard, as long as it goes well enough to get me to the shop. Cheers
  23. Ok... the front pipe arrived today, i think it is the HKS style one not sure... either way, grabbing a camera tonight and will email pics to those interested over the weekend so you can see for yourself! Bump!
