Ok, I am sick of people arguing about their defects so I have done the research and found some interesting results. Some of which have already been posted in various other misc threads around. I am going to put them together in the easiest way I know how. Carbon Fibre Bonnet : If your car is PRE 1995 then a carbon fibre IS legal....BUT it must have been made by an australian APPROVED manufacturer or a manufacturer that has been certified. THE ADR THAT APPLIES TO THIS IS ADR 69 (full frontal impact occupant protection) There is also another.....I think it is 73 but not 100% on that. ADR 69 is the important one. POD filter : The defect is crap. There is NO RULE regarding the solid mounting of your pod air filter. As long as an air filter is fitted (non oiled) then it is ok. I am starting with these two as it seems that the ghey cops around have found a new toy and seem to be picking on these two things mainly. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER DEFECTS OR QUESTIONS YOU WANT ANSWERED THEN POST IT HERE AND I WILL SEE WHAT I CAN FIND OUT. Also, if you have done the research yourself and know of any other items...please post them. DO NOT post what you THINK is the law unless you know it to be FACT. *NOTE* - Just because an ADR says it is ok doesn't mean it is. It has to be ADR COMPLIANT and MODIFICATION COMPLIANT also. You cannot have one without the other so make sure you check both. The number for Modfications is 07 3253 4851. I hope this thread will eventually become sticky and people may use it to save themselves from crooked or mis-informed/ignorant police.

Atmo BOVs are illegal because even new turbos release some amounts of oil into the intake. The only true way to make them legal is to filter the air coming out. That is Final.

Ethanol in high concentrations is not good for regular engines because it burns drier. It has a more damaging effect on your seals apparently. Same effects as methanol. You have to run special equipment to use methanol so I would assume you would also need the same equipment to run high concentrations of ethanol.

What! $30...I'll pay that. Last time I checked it was $70

I am running a 15% mix of Toluene and have had now probs. I am running on the border of lean out (210rwkw on standard injectors) and it doesn't ping or run lean. At $1/lt it's bloody good value. You just have to be cautious of the carcenogenic properties. I say bring on the Ethanol, they aren't going to blend it with Ultimate anyway so it doesn't really matter. By the end of this year I think the new fuel laws come in which require all refineries to start producing 100ron fuel. Things should be better after that, only question is....at what cost?
-
$150 plus parts ($70 for belt and around $20-30 in seals) If you want water pump changed it would be advised to do so at this time. The VL pumps are the same.
-
Ethanol won't harm your engine in any way if no more than a 20% blend is used. Seeing as though it's only 10%, you have nothing to worry about. I think a commowhore is more likely to melt down before a pure racing machine like an RB engine. Have more faith in your Nissan. Also, there is no substitute for proper tuning. So when DR DRIFT comes back to brisbane, it would be best to invest in the remap as it is far superior to ANY aftermarket options.

Traffic COPS are ghey!!! Get their name and badge number and request that the conversation be recorded otherwise you are not even popping the bonnet. You are within your rights to do so. Another good trick is every time the cop asks you a question. Lift your collar and repeat the question, then answer it like you are reading it out of a book. You will be amazed at the result. You can wave goodbye to the filthy prick as he leaves you alone.

That's why I take no pride on the exterior of my car. Not worth it in the end. But I feel your pain mate. I go nuts when my missus puts her feet on the dash. Fortunately I live in an area where people respect others' belongings and I don't sh1t where I sleep so the neighbours respect my car and watch out for it. Only last week the guy across the street told three 15 yo kids to get away from it. they were only looking but it's good to know that there is still kind people out there.

Mike Vine isn't bad for a washing machine repairer. MR Turbo has a good backyard operation going on. GCG will give you a certified 400hp rated highflow but machine the housing so thin it will melt in under 18 months and then say it's your fault. In answer to your SMS....visit www.pwr.com.au. The intercoolers there have the inlet and outlet on the same side and are a lot easier to install. Plus they are around $850 for a 600X350X100 I can still help you out with the turbo if you like but all up it's going to be around $1800 inc. labour.

I was going to add something...but you pretty much said it all. Well done.
-
BTW I think with that year model the bonnet is illegal anyway.

[email protected] ask her anything you want but be sure to provide as much info as possible about the car and info about your question. Also the fact that your car is an import. As for the vents, they are ok whichever way they face as long as they comply with scoop and vent guidelines. Whoever booked your friends for this was making it up. Never believe what a cop says to you, they will lie 9/10. It is their duty to prove to you that the defect is legitimate, not the other way around. If they do not prove to you that the defect is legit then you can report them for false reporting and they can be fined for it.

I can help you with a new one. Call me on 0418 770 716

Is the car in your avatar your car. You never once mentioned what car you own so how are any of us supposed to know what bonnet and other parts you need. I am assuming you have an R33. I would check with DOTARS because all R32's and some of the early R33's are allowed to have carbon fibre bonnets because ADR 69 does not apply for those particular year models. Don't let them tell you a pod filter is illegal either because they are not. And they have some bullcrap about unsecured....that's crap too. Secured via hoseclamp to the MAF meter. Cops and roadies seem to think that all carbon fibre bonnets are illegal....that is wrong. I have spoken personally with DOTARS on several occasions regarding this topic and they assure me that 32's are definately clear but only some of the 33's.
-
Use carbi clean or throttlebody cleaner. These have always worked well. Contact cleaner works fine but I think is a little more expensive. I have never known any MAF meter to cause an engine to stall while your foot is on the accel. Usually at idle they stall. Sounds to be more like a fuel or ignition fault.

The button is about $100 more, if you want prices on all types of clutches then ring Nicks and ask them. Or do some homework online.
-
Not that I can't do it, just that I have never done one - and being a pull type I don't want to experiment on someone elses car.
-
If you want specs on the clutch, ring Nicks Clutches at Archerfield. I can have the flywheel machined, I can get the flywheel lightened but nothing beats a forged lightened flywheel so I always recommend this upgrade - expensive yes, but results are worth it. In fact I have no problem fitting any clutch but I don't want to start doing twin plate stuff just yet. Single plate in pretty much any form - button - fibre - whatever. Prices will vary, though, on the others depending on the price of the clutch. If you want to buy your own clutch and bring it to me I will fit it. Labour will be $250. Choyda - I will do your if you like.....GTT's are ok, GTR's are a prick. Plus your a good bloke so I don't mind, lol.
-
As the title says. I will supply and fit an excedy heavy duty clutch for $650 to any R32 or R33 GTST - Sorry, no GTR thankx. Midas Capalaba - 3245 5399

call me tomorrow on 32455399 to remind me about it.
-
gimme $10,000 and I'll have your car doin 11's all day everyday. Conversation over.

Price for GT30R is on the first page of this thread This has a T3 flange, external gate and 0.7 a/r comp housing plus is rated at 400-500 hp. Closer to 400hp in the 0.63 but around 500hp for the 0.82 a/r This unit is twin ball bearing. SKYER said GT30 which is journal bearing...there is a difference. R means ball bearing
