  1. when under the engine bay i can hear my stock turbo slow down for about 7 seconds, is it at this point where the turbo is wearing more because of the oil not circulating while its still spinning or is it the heat that is the issue when turning off the motor?
  2. the thing is tho, i didnt change a thing and it all of a sudden was running 10psi, and has a flat spot, once it hits about 5500-6000 it drops back down to around 8-7ish psi and goes good again..ill sus out all the hoses tomorrow.

I have a stock rb25det with 2.5inch zorst and pod (minimal mods), using stock boost solinoid and just out of the blue it has started to hit 10psi which is causing the ECU to pull back timing and run rich (mega flat spot from 4-5500)...it sometimes pulls back to 7psi when about 5500-6000 and goes very well but most of the time it stays on 9-10psi and is shittting me off ay.
  4. hmm...i am having over boosting problems with the stock boost solinoid, hits 10 most times, whats going on? could a hose be ****ed? or is it the solinoid? when it hits past 7 is when it starts the flat spot pretty much... also the flat spot goes away after bout 6 grand because the boost goes back down to 7. ..real wierd...any thoughts?
  5. i also think my TPS is ****ed, very sensative when adjusting it, and very sensative thottle, when i slightly press throttle and the vvt solinoid clicks its very on/off, very sensative when crawling along in 1st.
  6. thanks alot, well it wierd because when its cold it runs great without missfires until 4 grand but when its heated up it will missfire badly on idle on 5 and doesnt like anymore than normal accelerating throttle. i can rev it to 5 grand if i want to without boost but as soon as i put the foot down a bit it just missfires constantly while throttle is down. it varies with heat. i am going to sus out the coils n plugs etc. tomorrow for cracks etc. any thoughts? i know im repeating myself here but its very frustrating driving the car like this
  7. hmm... could be but im swaying towards a spark problem, im not sure why the boost would go up with the stock boost solinoid.
  8. hmm...well i put brand new copper gapped to .8 in the other day, but no different.
  9. dunno, i didnt do the wiring. anyways, back to missfire...nissan wanted $205 for rb25 coils each ROFL!
  10. it was going to about 10psi with stock boost solinoid all this week when it was a flat spot from 4grand , but tonight, after the flatspot turned into the missfire, its just gone to 8 then back to 7 straight away. its real wierd, ive had a missfire on idle and cruising throttle for a lil while, its a real bad missfire when after 4.5k on boost. it behaves wierd
  11. hmm...well the flat spot has turned into a constant missfire from 4.5ishgrand onwards on boost, if i was to slowly accelerate to over 4.5 without boost its ok but its only when its under boost. this morning on the way to work, if i was to flatten it, it would totally cut out if i flattened it. it also had a very destinct missfire on idle, hasnt done it since i turned her off after that.....wierd shit, doesnt like boost above 4ish grand, wierd, any thoughts?
  12. recently transplanted an RB25det into my R31 silhouette, been runnning great up until recently it has started to boosted up to 10psi, which i think is what is causing my flat spot from 4 grand to 6 grand, here is what happens: say im in second, from 2.5 grand i flatten it, it runs great and pulls hard until it hits about 4ish grand and the boost goes towards 10psi, it doesnt pull as nearly as hard as what it should, but once it hits 6ish grand the boost goes back to 7ish psi and pulls very nicely. why would the stock boost solinoid be allowing the boost to go higher, im assuming this is causing the flat spot as its detonating and the ecu retards timing and dumps heaps of fuel, it backfires alot off the throttle. it also missfires alot on cruisinging throttle and it seems as tho i need have my foot a little big more on the throttle to keep the same speed.

  15. hey fellas, just got my rb25det bolted into my R31 Silhouette, Very pleased with the motor n gearbox, great performance! however i have a few questions. The stock boost solinoid which comes off the actuator hose, can this be removed to eliminate the risk of boost spike or will this encourage this? also, if i was to bypass this by just running the actuator hose from the actuator straight to the intake piping will this create problems at all, im assuming not as most cars have this but im not sure on the workings of the boost solinoid of the rb25det and what it does. My next question is, is the spigot bush in the back of the rb25det crank the same spigot size as the rb30 crank? i would assume so as they all have fairly identical cranks in the way of flywheel bolt pattern etc etc. just wondering... also, after a good strap around the hills, how long would you guys reccomend to cool the car down before turnin it off? thanks, peaceout Ryan :headspin:

  17. anyone got a pinout, colours, diagram for the series 1 rb25det? or can anyone tell me what the colour of the tacho output wire is? on the ecu that is.
  18. one solinoid that is fairly loud is the vvt solinoid which comes on as soon as there is movement of the throttle, your tps (throttle position sensor) could be dodgy and kicking the vvt solinoid in and out. just a thought

R31 Skyline Silhouette Manual, RB30E, ported and polished head, shaved head, match port intake, Stage 3 AVO cam (290duration), HP3 chiptorque chip, Cold air induction, ApexI air flow convertor, extractors, 2.5inch zorst, hollow cat, no mufflers other than rear turbo muffler, r32 (RB20DET) gearbox, single tailshaft, CBA heavy duty clutch, custom intake piping to underneath bumper with pod, earthing strap(makes no difference:) ) good and proven for 133.5rwkw@5250rpm ---- 290Nm at 3600rpm other mods include: whiteline sway bar rear and front, koni adjustable orange series, king springs, trust camber kit yet to be fitted. cheers
