  1. and i say yet again, i know WHAT i need to find, its where to find it the actuator has a pipe that goes to the actuator solonoid, the thing that controls 5 or 7 psi, this in turn has 2 pipes comming from it, both which seem to go to the post intercooler line .... on the other cars i have fitted an evc to, the watstegate actuator has its line plumbed directly to the pressure side of the turbo housing ... THIS (as you correctly state) is what i am looking for, but there does not seem to be a connection on the pressure side on the turbo house on this turbo. and yes, it is a standard turbo. /me sighs i'll be back under the bonnet at the weekend to try and look for it.
  2. I know WHAT is needed, its WHERE yes there are dozens of post intercooler outlets, and thats fine, its the PRE intercooler ... could not SEE anywhere to T off from, unless there is something i couldn't see / feel ...

All, Managed to get some time at the weekend to install my evc IV, i've had it sat around for ages, was on my mr2 turbo, then the wifes pulsar gti-r - now both cars have gone, it i reclaimed it for the skyline ... anyway, having installed it both on the mr2 and the pulsar, thought it would be a fairly straight forward job on the line as well .... well, i STRUGGLE to find a pre-intercooler port to T off for the valve controller, it requires a pre intercooler, post intercooler (throttle body) and actuator plumbing .. my question is this - I cant be the only person to have installed one of these - where do you get the pre intercooler connection from ???? cheers

Hi all, looking for a little advice on the next upgrade to my S2 GTST Currently has kakimoto cat back (3"), and hks pod - I have the EVC IV ready to install, just have not had the time to do so (moved house and wife would actually end me if i start spending time on the car and not unpacking boxes) anyway- after teh evc goes in should I : 1. install high flow dump pipe + high flow cat - approx $400 2. new turbo so can run higher boost - $1000 ? but would I need option 1 to get the best results ? 3. emanage + tune up - 2nd hand emanage + garage tune $800 ?? 4. FMIC - $700 ? any thoughts ??? cheers

    Strut Braces

    My front brace arrived yesterday, thanks greg, all fitted perfectly ok, and build quality seems quite high for such a reasonably priced brace ... If you are thinking about getting one, dont, just do it ... dont know if its all in my head, but the front end deffinatly does feel tighter, if anything, it makes those power slides feel a little more controlled ... cheers
  10. guys, i have been in touch with crystalfontz about this ... here is what i found... I use their software on my pc to display motherboard monitor stats, all very useful, and works perfectly with any hd44780 anyway ... I was looking at : http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/2004a...#CFAH2004ATMIJP but didnt want this type of blue screen, so asked them directly if this : http://www.crystalfontz.com/products/1602l...#CFAH1602LTGHJP type of colour screen was available in 20x4 .. and it is !!!! hoorah ! below is the reply i had from them regarding it : Obviously it does work out to be slightly pricey, but you get a screen that is a very close match to the standard dash colours. They are also just standard hd44780 lcd modules that are a direct replacement to impakts screens.   11. cool, thanks for the advice .. I'm really not looking for HUGE hp, or kw, i'm looking for more torque, obviously it's going to be nice to have the kw all through the rev range tho ... I'm a big fan of sydneykids 'average power' methodolgy I;ve already have high hp cars that go wizz bang, i want a proper useable driving car with lots of power ! cheers
  12. I've recently started logging data from my ecu, and am slightly worried about future performance upgrades ... I currently have a '96 S2 GTS-T, hks filter and kakimoto cat back I have a hks evc iv to install that came from my mr2 turbo ... anyway, looking at my injector pulse widths, and duty cycle i can see that I am reaching 15.2ms pulse, and 62% duty ... this to me sounds pretty high for a car thats running standard boost ! do i need to upgrade injectors before i up the boost ? I'm only planning on running 10psi, but want to use the evc for the actuator control it gives me ... any insight would be a great help ! thanks

  14. I'm from the UK where recently there was a very large court case about the legality of radar detectors ... They were illigal before the case, and basically some rich guy got caught using one, the police took him to court over it, and some very big shot lawers got it through, and then got the law changed that stated because a radar detector is totally passive, it only detects, it does NOT send out any signals, it cannot mess with the polices speed traps, radar is NOT licensed by the police as only them being able to use it, they send out radar radio waves via a speed trap gun for anyone to pickup ! So now they are legal in the UK !! I'm sure that someone will chalenge the law here about it soon enough and i'll be able to use the radar detector I have sitting in a box ... cheers
  15. totally true, I have a series 2 r33 that was only bought into the country in the last couple of months, i was imported under the RAWS thing ... I have the normal blue plate from nissan, and a magenta type colour plate stating the compliance number, date, type etc etc can take pics if anyone is really interested ...

I have no clue about holdens, I only just moved to Aus from the UK at the end of last year, and over there, a 3.8 v6 is a HUGE engine capacity, we do have similar cars (vauxhall omega), but they only come with a 2.0 4 cyl std, a 2.5 v6, with the real high top spec ones being 3.0 v6 anyway, i'm still waiting for some components to arrive, will post results as and when I have them

  18. Rough price will be around the $100 ish mark ... Still am in the process of moving house and doing lots of rennovation, so cant spend as much time on it as I want, but am working on it all the spare time I get. Just waiting for some components to arrive at the moment, as soon as they arrive I'll be cutting the pcb, I have the design mostly done ... As soon as I have a working prototype i'll make a post into the for sale section, until then, if anyone wants to contact me directly, i'll be happy to chat about them. cheers
  19. Yes If anyone would like me to build this, I can... for a small cost of course ... Impakt has something similar for sale but its the whole package, built in display etc, this would be a nice cheap way of reading / logging data from your std ecu with your lappy ... if anyone is interested, mail me at barry@host32.com and i'll start building one in the mean time cheers

Yes Essentially you build this device, plug it into your lappy, run some software, which can be gotten for free, just google it, and start monitoring / logging data .. tbh, I have ordered one of the consult port boxes impakt is selling over at this thread : http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ghlight=consult as i want to be able to view diag info on the fly, not have to look down at the laptop for info while driving. This device also does have the serial port as part of it. But this serial device would be VERY cheap to build ... if anyone is interesed I'd be happy to knock a few of them up, I have all the pcb etching stuff to hand, and most of the components ... email me to : barry@host32.com if you would like one, and i'll work out some costs.
