  1. I tried 2WD mode on the weekend, and no change.... although probably unrelated, the car seems to be having the surging problem at lower speeds now (60-70km/h) this was still after I put it back to 4WD. Problem seems to be getting worse. I guess next thing to try is another AFM (from Bob. cheers ) and replace the k&n filter for a paper one. Damn I hope that works.....
  2. Yeah I did check the coil packs when i changed the plugs. When I had my Skyline, I had a hesitation problem when the car reved to around 5k, that ended up being hairline cracks in teh coil packs... but this problem is different.
  3. thanks for the help guys. hmm I don't hear any clicking paul, would it be a noticable clicking when the problem starts? Yes the whole car jerks slightly. It could be my imagination, but since having this problem the car seems to have slightly less power overall? i'll investigate further. Could very well be the k&n oiled filter i have, after hearing what people are saying. I've had the filter in for a couple of years though before it started having this problem I'll try unplugging the 02 sensor if you think it might help bob, otherwise I will take you up on that offer please. can you pm me bank details. cheers
  4. well.... digging back into this thread to have another go I am still having the problem mentioned above. I've changed back to my old fuel filter thinking that was the problem. but no luck. I was suggested to try another AFM. I've already cleaned mine, but could be a dud? Anyone have a spare they would be willing to lend me? big ask, but i don't really want to buy a new AFM on a hunch.
  5. I do have an aftermarket BOV (blitz) but it had this surging problem before I put it on.... I only stuck it on for a bit of fun cause i was changing the plugs and had it sitting in the cupboard The more i'm thinking about this, I am thinking it could be the fuel filter. Perhaps the new one I put on is a dud or not compatible... I saved the old one just in case, so I'll stick that on tomorrow and see what happens
  6. Yeah I was thinking that was an option.... plug in a scan tool and take it out on the freeway.
  7. When I changed the timing belt, I also replased the thermostat, flushed the system and replaced coolant Only surges when doing a constant speed.... the car will accelerate fine with no loss of power I'll check the terminals....I'll try anything at this stage
  8. Forgot to mention that.... Already cleaned the throttle body, the AFM, and the air filter. I have a K & N Filter.... oiled also replaced the foam seal around the snorkel (filter had lots of foam sitting on it from the old seal... Running V-Power hmmm, can't remember the revs it is sitting on at 110 (in 'D')
  9. Bit hard to explain, but having a surging problem when travelling at a constant speed (only happens over 100km/hr) Happens at various speeds over 100.... eg 110, 115, 120. Only does it if i hold the accelerator at a constant speed. as soon as i de-accelerate or speed up it goes away. It also does not surge at a constant speed up hill (so shows it is not a problem under load) I have changed the plugs, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, reset the ecu, changed the timing belt, had a code check... but no luck. I have also tried going back to 3rd gear in case it was a top gear problem... still no results. I think its just a conicidence, but this surging problem started around the time I did an oil change and replaced the fuel filter...... could the new filter be a problem...? Any help or suggestions would be great. I've had enough of this problem
  10. For future reference, no gaskets. You need to buy Gasket Glue
  11. Last time I tested my fuel economy I got approx 10L/100km (driving on the freeway) with Shell V Power it wasn't a big test though, as I simply filled the tank full in Newcastle, then filled up again in Sydney after doing approx 150km it used just under 15L. Driving to Grafton soon, so I'm going to test it again. I guessing the economy will go down as I'll be driving through town, making stops etc... tests based on a Stock Series 2 1999 C34
  12. I put my name down for one of those aaaages ago..... I received an email from them last year saying they had enough names/requests to go into print, and were now waiting to get enough confirmations before going ahead. still waiting :|
  13. quick update... got my package from the US... prtty happy with it awesome value and all items were sealed in genuine packaging. Fitting everything this weekend Should i try and source any gaskets? or do I just use some sort of gasket goop?
  14. yeah not the black rubber rings... the thing one of the pulleys is sitting on... i think this could just be a generic stock photo. Well i ended up ordering the kit from the US with the water pump. Not that i thought anything was wrong with the dayco kit. I just thought and extra $50 for a water pump and thermostat was a good deal, and with the car being 11 years old, it does not hurt to change them anyway
  15. yeah, don't really need the water pump, but worth getting if only an extra $50 or so..... I noticed in the dayco kit photo there is something sitting under one of the pulleys? not shown in the US ebay photo.... is it important ?
  16. I wanted to get to this meet, was just to busy to stop in.... Last minute rush as we did not realise qantas had changed flights to Tokyo from 10pm to 6am I'll hopefully be able to make it next time.... add another white C34 to the mix lol
  17. thanks for the advice guys... the one you got Tom, sounds like the goods. Yeah i thought all the rb25 kits would be ok, just started second guessing it when i read the description of the one i was looking at http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TIMING-BELT-KIT-NISSAN-LAUREL-SKYLINE-STAGEA-/140461661396?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20b42adcd4 didn't even think about getting one from the US...and genuine too! it would be worth getting the kit with the water pump. i will send the guy a message and see if he has any more
  18. I need to change my timing belt, and about to buy a kit, but i want to make sure it is the correct one for my car. apparently there are 3 different belts?? my car is a 1999 WGNC34 Series 2 (RB25DET Neo) does anyone know how many teeth are on the belt? 141 teeth or 133 teeth? Dayco Timing Belt Kit - PART No: KTBA173 Cheers, Chris.

    Roof Racks

I need a set of roof racks for my C34.... edit: I did a search on the NZ Prorack site... http://www.whispbar.co.nz/findmycar You need: S16 bar K328 mount Load Rating: 75 kg 165 lbs How it fits: Clamps onto raised roof rail Price $449.80 NZD (rrp inc GST) cripes! thats a bit pricey.... i'm sure a custom rola rack would be cheaper

    Roof Racks

does anyone have any more photos of their roof racks installed? The square type ones would be ok, for a couple of trips now and then, but don't they create a fair bit of drag and noise? just what i've heard..... still thinking to get a set of rola racks..... just a bit pricey for only being used a couple of times per year... hmmm decisions
