Gday Folks, Much to my dismay, whilst pulling my gearbox apart (RP71C) RB20DET - this little bullet shaped bearing was on my drop cloth after i rolled the box over. I have no idea where it came from. Ive been pretty careful to bag and tag and photograph everything but I have no idea where this little sucker came from! I think it might be to hold one of the selector rods in place when in gear but Ive accounted for all the ball bearings that do that! Any help would be greatly appreciated! JK

Folks, I have a RP71C #1 gearbox and it was making all sorts of noises when in gear and clutch disengaged. Ive taken it apart and there is alot of play in the input shaft. I could feel this when the casing was still on the gearing but now its even more apparant without the casing supporting the shaft. I originally thought it was the main input shaft bearing, but this appears to be smooth as silk. Ive checked out this SDU thread and nabbed some of his pics. Here is what the gearbox looks like when apart - looking at the input shaft. I havent managed to pull mine apart to this extent yet, but i can move my input shaft in and out alot about 4-5mm - and nearly so the synchro comes out of its place, but also left to right, which is where my box is stuffed i reckon. Can anyone confirm that this shaft should only have longdetudinal movement, and not latitudinal? If so - could it be this bearing thats stuffed or clapped out? Thanks guys! JK

I have managed to punch a pin out but it wont budge still. There appears to be a small sleave lining the inside of the cast piece that seams to still hold it onto the rod. I have only managed to punch that out by about 1mm. Its quite hard. Is it normal to have to punch out 2 things, or should they have both come out the first time? JK

Gday, Trying to remove the casing off my RB20 gearbox and Im struggling. Ive gotten the back part of the casing to move but its clearly getting stuck on the part where the shifter goes into. Looking at the attached picture, do you have to bash out a pin that holds it together? Well Ive bashed a Pin out but it still wont come off, so I cannot slide the casing off. Any help greatly appreciated! JK

The R32 uses different sensors to the A31. ie all the looms have different plugs and are a "newer" generation to the poor old slummin 31. Not sure about pin outs and "readable voltages" etc JK

Gday, Ive got 2 HKS mechanical temp guages and Ive installed one already in my top radiator hose. As you can see in the picture there are 2 parts to the sensor, firstly the brass nut and then the big aluminium adaptor. Well if you unscrew the brass nut then you can remove the actual sensor from the ali adaptor. Here is a pic of them apart. Now the thread on this brass nut is identical to that of the thread in my Greddy Spin on Adaptor, which has provision for such a small sensor. So Id like to put it in there. You can see in this close up pic of the actual sensor that it would be suitable. My question is - is this material ok to be in direct contact with hot oil, whereas the radiator temp sensor is protected by the adaptor. I presume tho that these adaptors are only made to be more suitable for water, whereas it would obviously be too much of a restriction for oil to have such a big adaptor. Any advice would be great.! Oh and are these guages filled with mercury or something similar? Cheers JK

i installed a R32 GTST GREX 10 row cooler kit. Its mint. It doesnt have remote filter or thermostat but I dont think the oil filter position is that difficult to get to on the RB20. I orignally installed the cooler where the Aircon Receiver Dryer was as I didnt want to hit the cooler when drifting, but Ive since had to relocate it to the wheel arch as I put my aircon back in. You can just see it here near the drivers side headlight. http://www.sido-takushi.com/events/collie/...04/DSC08669.jpg http://www.sido-takushi.com/events/collie/...04/DSC08725.jpg (sexy man!) I purchased extra braided line so that I could put the cooler where I wanted though. Total cost $800 all brand new. Definately worth it. I also have a HKS oil pressure guage and soon a HKS temp gauge on the spin on adaptor. JK

Wtb: A31 Engine Ecu (for Automatic Tranny Model)
jaik replied to jaik's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
As far as I know the only difference between Auto and Manual Engine ECUs is the base timing. Autos are set to use 20 degrees base timing whereas Manual ECUs are set for 15 degrees. My ECU has been chipped and has no rev limiter - i just want a revlimiter haha JK -

Thanks Id prefer for a less geographically challenged ECU but I will keep you in mind. I am after the ECU for the Engine, but from an Auto (Timing is different between auto and manual transmissioned cars) JK -

Rb20 Close Ration Racing Gearbox $1800

Have you opened the gearbox and had a look? Going by your advert one may be inclined to think it would only be nismo or os-g but it could be anything. Im looking for a gearbox, and if you can confirm exactly whats inside you may have a buyer JK -
Anyone know who put their white 32 4 door with black painted factory wheels thru a tree and a brick wall? Saw it on the news tonight - looked pretty horrible! I hope the passengers were ok! Nice effort. PS how much for your gearbox? Cheers JK

hrms... noice noice! Do you know what size thread the oil pressure uses - as I have a GREX adaptor already. Also the size of the temp senders. Are the silver surrounds metal or plastic? Cheers JK

What guages are mechanical and what are electrical? Do you have any real life pics of these guages? ie not promo glitzy ones. Any cup holders for em too? Also you do realise youre not doing anyone any favours by offering people 3 $195 guages for $599 Cheers JK

Just convert to 5 stud! Atleast then you can put on some decent brakes etc. It will only cost you $800! JK
