  1. Hmm I think I have received a dud Sigma 70-200mm EX APO DG. I did some test shots and posted here. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=130848 Look as though I have to send it in for calibration Or even a replacement copy.
  2. Try using the newspaper test at 1.5m, stick a piece on the wall and shoot the Sigma (without TC) at 200m F4 and then again at ~140mm + 1.4TC. Crop the center at 100% and have a look at the sharpness of the fonts to see the diff. I'll do the same and show the diff between the Sigma 70-300 vs Sigma 70-200.
  3. Ewww .. the 28-300mm is a SHOCKER !!! I think it's one of Sigma's worst lens. Although they did redeemed themselves with the 70-300mm APO DG. Likewise, I was considering the Canon 70-200 F4 at one stage, but the extra F stop is hard to beat. Although a 70-200 EX APO DG with OS would have been PERFECT !!! Let me know how your Sigma 1.4x TC perform with the 70-200. I wonder if the 70-200 + x 1.4 TC is much better than the 70-300mm APO DG ?
  4. I originally thought about purchasing the camera from HK, but in the end was against the idea and purchased the (body) 350D+kit lens locally in Australia. Having said that I purchased all my lenses/accessories from HK, the Canon 50mm 1.8 MkII, Sigma 70-300 APO DG, EF-500 DG Super, Tamron 28-75 F2.8 Di, Sigma 70-200mm F2.8, wireless timer, bunch of filters. You'll save heaps on the lenses, but the cost of the body is quite competitive in Australia. I got my body+lens for $1350 in Sept last year. BTW, the import limit is $1000 not $500. Even with the 70-200mm which was slightly over $1K, I managed to dodged import duty. http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4376
  5. Just got it recently haven't had the chance to test it out properly yet. But it's a lot BIGGER and HEAVIER than I had originally anticipated.
  6. Great choice !!! Make sure you get the 50mm F1.8 as well !!! Also for cheap zoom lens, nothing perform better than the Sigma 70-300 APO DG for ~$300. Or if you have a bit more cash get the Sigma 70-200 EX DG F2.8 for about $1200. Fantastic lens !!
  7. Darn I missed out that amazing sunset we had a few weeks ago. I was at a friend's place and even considered of running home to grab my camera !! Anyway, good to see a few photographers here. Here are my contribution.
  8. Wow, just went outside and saw snow falling for the first time ;-)
  9. What's your quota then ?? Are they DVD or recompressed CD size games ?? As I said before, I can't imagine anyone downloading DVD size games ?? Perhaps I'm wrong ??
  10. Downloading games !! Are you crazy !?? Are they DVD5 or CDR size ?? I can't see you download DVD5 too often .. Lets face it how many of us download DVD games!!?? I think at 56K it'll take me serveral years for one game .. Might as well, just rent it out and burn it on DVD-R. I can get 20 DVD-R for $11, that's 55cents per DVD-R. Much cheaper than storing it on HDD.
  11. I can't really see the point of storing games on HDD ?? The only benefit I can see is access speed. Personally, I'll save the extra money and put up with the extra few seconds for games to load.
  12. Just got mine mod'ed last week with a DUO 2. Cost $90 by a guy on Scarb Rd next to the Ampol station (Opposite Innaloo shopping centre). Just wondering if you do decide to go with the SWAP card, make sure that you don't have TOC problem. I had one of those old swap mod, that caused me a lot of grief. The DUO2 can do basically everything, DVD-R, DVD5, DVD9 silver, CDR, Region free DVD etc ... Also can run Media player as well.
  13. Hey Sub, have you made booking yet ?? I'm looking for info now.
  14. On the official site it's 3 days 17-19 June 2004. 17th Practice 18th Qualify 19th Race ..
  15. Hey there, Anyone here planning to go to Malaysia for the 4th round of the JGTC in Sepang ?? Can't wait to see the GTR vs Supra vs NSX vs Mc Claren F1 etc ..
  16. Random : hehe .. I think it's time to say goodbye to the GT wing even though I like it
  17. Yeah, I know .. As I mentioned I didn't complained about failing the pit .. In regards to the front indicators .. I didn't know about the law that was changed in 91 ie compulsory to have side indicators. I definately didn't pick that one up until the engineer told me that it was missing.
  18. Dsturbd : I had the front bar replaced with a Varis style, but the people who installed it, didn't move the indicators from my previous bar to the current bar. Thus the missing indicators. I didn't even know until the pit. docile : It was Whelspool, I've been there twice and had no problem for compliancing. red17 : actually the GT-wing is within the width of the car. It looks like, it's sticking out but not really (optical illusion), I don't mind loosing it, as it's dangerous . Hmm I wasn't complaining for failing the pit .. I was complaining by the fact that I came out of the car park, and the cops noticed me putting my seat belt on as the car was moving. For the past 12 years, I've never been followed/stopped, but ever since I bought the Skyline and Supra (especially the Supra), I've been followed 3 times, stopped twice. It seems that they're waiting for me to make a mistake and then get me .. Oh well .. I think that's the price for owning one of these cars.
  19. I took the Supra over the pit and failed !!! My front indicators were missing after I put on the Varis bodykit. *FAILED* The window wiper motor didn't squirt any water. *FAILED* GT-Wing *FAILED* .. Err anyone would like to buy a Top Secret carbon fibre GT-wing ??? Front tyres needs to be replace *FAILED* I managed to get the permit for the exhaust, bucket seat, and air-pod. I'm begining to sense that the cops are sending me down to the pit to keep the pit engineers in a job ..
  20. What annoyed me most was that they told me they were reasonable so I had hope that they would understand my predicament when I explained to them. But in the end all they seem to want, were to get me on technicality ( as soon as two front wheels are on the road I’m obligated to have the belts on), and then pinged me for not having a permit for the aftermarket stuffs. Just wondering how come the engineers at the pit didn’t tell/encourage me to get the permits just in case I run into a cop with attitudes? Times like these I wonder if these guys are doing there job to drive the safety message home or was it just a case of demonstrating their power in society.
  21. Hi All, Well, I used to think that if a cop pulls you over for a reason, usually it would be for a legitimate reason. All of that changed today I exited from the Hyatt car park today without a seat belt. But as soon as I was moving, I put on my seat belts. Unbeknown to me, there was a Police car traveling in the opposite direction. Anyway, he saw me pulling the belts on as I was driving. After trailing me all the way to Riverside drive, he decided to pull me over and. Gave me a $150 fine, 3 demerit points and then on top of that gave me a yellow sticker to finish it off for having a GT wing, air pod and large exhaust without permits. His reason for the GT wing was hilarious. Aftermarket wings are dangerous because if I run over someone, and by chance they get flung onto the bonnet, roof and then roll to the back they might get lodge between the GT-wing and the boot !!! heheheh .. I asked him if he know what the original wing looks like. He answered ‘no’.. I didn’t really want to explain that it had a huge gap as well, that a person could also get lodge in between. My question to you guys is. At the pit inspection, would they only check the defected items or will they go through the whole car?? I’m asking because I’ve got a bucket seat which I think are not legal and is a pain to remove. Thanks Richard.
  22. Adagio for String (Samual Barber) is probably the most depressing and yet appropriate piece you can play at a funeral. The William Orbit's electronic rendition is no where as powerful as the original. Take out a copy of "The Elephant Man" from the video store and have a box of tissues near by Another similar piece that's really depressing is "The Host of Seraphim" by Dead Can Dance ( Lisa Gerrard). Who also sang for most of the songs in Gladiator .. Got a few more but too depressing to think about :(
  23. All I can say is ... only an IDIOT would drag on public road. Oh boy, am I going to get it from you guys.
  24. Oh my !!! Forget about the GTR in 2007 !! Have a look at this sexy Honda, heck it even looks like a GTR with the rear round lights!!!!
  25. The defect was found inside a sensor in the engine that could lead to a short-circuit and stop the engine from working. There have been no reports of accidents caused by the problem. The recall affects many popular cars manufactured between 1998 and May 2003, including the Sunny, March, Cube, Primera, Presage, X-Trail, Skyline and Fairlady Z, as well as two cars built for Subaru-maker Fuji Heavy Industries (7270.T) and Mazda Motor Corp (7261.T) on an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) basis.
